If it were me I'd get 165/50/14 or 165/55/14s

Thats the thing, cant find either of those sizes anywhere. seems that 14" tyres are pretty shit to get hold of

can find 165 55's but i feel like they will sit abit high

are you really going to notice the 5mm difference in tyre wall height over the 155/55 tyre? 195/45 or 185/50 would be the other popular options. All are within 5mm of each other tyre height-wise

Oh cool cheers, yeah i dont think 195/185s would work on the stance I'm going for as they are a bit wide and I'm after a little bit of stretch because i want to get the rims flush with the arch

165/60 have been pretty damn good for me.

I'm in the same boat mate. 165/55s on 6.5 is the only size i can think of. i've got a mate whos got 155.55's on 6j and he said it handles ok .. if u get a tyre which has the tread pattern on part of the sidewall it will work out a little wider than 155. hope this helps/ as i need help me self :p lol

Cheers man, yeah I think ill go for either 155 55s or 165 55s

I have both of the above, running staggered widths. My rears are spaced 35mm with axle and wheel spacers. The front is 20mm with just wheel spacers. Arches are flush with rims at the back, and looks like as the front too. I'm assuming the front track is slighy wider than back. I know new ones are. Arches are to be rolled too.

I've ran 185/50's on a 14, good handling, but non of the tyre strech. ( win-win :D)

Problem is only Sonar are the cheapest make at around 40-50quid each.

are we gonna fab some front suspension for it then sunshine? ;)

If your going for looks rob then go for the 155 55's, Id imagine they're pretty cheap aren't they?

Then for track use etc i'd maybe go for 185 50's. 155 is pretty skinny so i wouldn't drive to spritely

tbh polos dont need super wide tyres. I've always ran 165s on my g40 and never had any issues with them. granted i dont spank the car much, but they have always been fine on the occasional back road blast. if anything I've always found tyres over 175 wide on a polo a hinderance as they tramliner like crazy. guess wider tyres would be fine on a smooth race track though, but cant comment as I've never been on a track in a polo

Best fitting tyre for 14's either 185/50 or 195/45.

stretch tyres don't fit well, hence they are stretched..... only really works on wide wheels, and 6 inch rims aren't wide!!!

Depends if you want to drive the car properly.... I guess not!!!

a 165 wont be stretched on a 6j, a 155 wont be much different either. heres a 165/55 on a 6j 14" rim

a 165/50 on a 6.5j 15" rim, again hardly what you would call stretched, just a nice straight sidewall instead of a bulgy one

This is a 185/50 Yoko A539's on a 14" Compomotive rim...

as we discussed, 195s for daily abuse, 155s on the wolfs for shows ;)

195/45 i looked at when hunting for tyres for the teardrops.

Those 155/55 look bloody stupid IMO

Ordered 165 55's let's hope they're sexy

Hmmm , looking at some pics on here and on tyre stretch, they still look a bit big on a 6j rim.

Think I'm gonna go for 155 55's. They look sick on the black VW steelies in that library.

Looks familiar there Matt....

Same wheels 14x6.5j wrapped with 195/40 i prefer a fully fitted tyre with minimal side wall.

^ Thats what I'm after on a 6j, looks like I'm gonna have to go for 175/50 though. I can't find 185/45 or 40 anywhere!
