Basically I just want an induction kit on my 1.0 purely for the sound, I don't expect any power gain. Why would I want to make a slow 1.0 louder? I don't know, it's just something to do

Rather than buying a 'kit', I was thinking of removing both panel filters from the air box and attaching a cone filter as shown in my MS Paint picture below:

I would leave the standard air feed pipe in place below the cone.

Is there any disadvantage of doing it this way rather than removing the airbox all together, fixing a cone filter to the inlet manifold and running a cold air feed to it?

Cold air, mush smush; if you take the airbox off and remove the first plastic section you see (where the exhaust heater goes) it makes it sound a little beefier..

Shitstix. :( I missed that bit, sorry. :/ But i was being serious about the rest..

It wont change the sound really tbh, you need to go straight onto the tb or on a pipe connecting to it

even with the air box off a 1 litre won't make that much noise. sounds a bit better tho

they do make a loud noise, I was impressed with what my little 1litre sounded like.

Just get some ducting stright on the end of the throttle body to air filter, theres no sensors to worry about, so ditch the engine cover.

I have bought a pipercross cone filter for £20 and I'm going to remove the air box completely and duct it to the trottle body. I will either attach the oil breather to the ducting or make an catch tank with a filter for it.

Probably ebay in all fairness. There is a huge selection, I'm either going to use a flexible corrugated one or use alu pipes with silicone joiners.

That's pretty much what I have done on my 1.0! It sounds a little bit better, I mean its definitely noticeable, but mines not an MPI. You can see in the corner of the picture where the silver pipe connects to the air box (with no filters in it).
