I have a 1ltr mk3 and the brakes are appalling to say the least. I'm wanting to know is there an easy route to uprate them using other VW parts id imagine..VWII callipers is it?

If thats too much of a pain what discs and pads do you folks recommend that fit straight on with no issues.

Decent quality pads and disks should be alright for what you need?

Vw2 calipers won't give you any better braking as the pads have the same size footprint. However they do let you fit uprated vented disks and pads.

You could buy vauxhall ate calipers they are from astra gte 16v/cavalier/cavalier sri then you need 256mm mk2 golf gti discs.

to bolt them on. Also get a 22.5mm mastercylinder to drive them

get a decent set of drilled and grooved discs and some half decent pads and itll be fine and wont cost the earth

Thank you as always guys, think ill just grab some decent discs and pads then =D It is a 1ltr afterall I'm not hitting break neck speeds or even close =P

Am i right in thinking they are 10mm thick by 239mm diameter.

So far i can only find the solid ones in the correct size for the polo.

the vented ones are 20mm thick (G40)

Also Brembo seem to have 2 differnt pad sets for the same model...one slightly more expensive and a few mill thicker and in width...

Maybe my brains just not working today, first day back after well over a week off!!

Any other brands recommended?

Fuck drilled and grooved. They just wear through pads quicker. Vented will be fine for all the cooling you'll need

I cant find cooling ones for the polo, not unless the slightly thicker G40 ones fit which i dont think they do with modding?

239x10 are standard ones , if you want to upgrade to vw2 calipers you need the wider vented ones

it should brake ok on all fresh stuff , try driving a mk2 with no servo if you want poo brakes

the servo doesnt make the braking any better! you just need to stamp on the brakes with a bit more vigour!

I'll just pick up some plane old Brembo discs and pads then and forget drilled or vented or coated in unicorn love juice or anything else crazy they do!

Mine brakes pretty well on soild brembo disks and ferrodo pads.

If you get vw11 calipers (and carriers if you want) then get the g40 vented discs. I have a set of g40 calipers and carriers if your wanting some

I'm running standard discs with green stuff pads from ebc brakes, on my mk3/mk2f

i find them pretty good and they bite well also, slow you down pretty quickly :p
