police asking to borrow my jetta

Featured Replies

just had the police at my front door asking me to borrow my jetta for a police cctv recreation or something like that. baring in mind my jetta, has no engine, box, front lights, wiring interior. and in the middle of being cleaned etc.

so i thought fuck it why not, i have to put the front back on (for my personal reasons, dont want the car to look like a bag of shit) put a seat in and the wheel. then get all the shit out of it.

how strange is that though? anyone else had anything like this before??

hahah fuck....i propper missed an opportunatly then! lol!

Wonder how many people will see a car like yours on crime watch and suspect you of being the thief/rapist/murderer they are looking for :lol:

That's pretty cool tho mate

make em buy you a engine!!

demand off the nice people they will pay up

You should have put everything together apart from the engine so when they ask why it won't start say 'Oh yeah, it doesn't have an engine'.

Is the police cctv recreation by a hill?

i have no idea, its in my local area, burnley, its not about the actual jetta, just a salloon car around 20 years old, they have an e30, e36, some sort of viat, volvo and rover lined up. I'm going to with the car want see whats going on if and when they need it. i say if because i told them about another jetta in my area that is road legal etc and can drive. so they may have used this one. not mine.

not entirly sure how the engine sujestions would pull though but it would be cool if they did :p

could sell it as a feature car now for 2000 quid more :lol:

for sale. 1990 jetta tx. registed 1.6, engines out already half way though your work. dont need to strip it down!! half of your time done for free!!!

featured in a police journal as a demonstration car, pics to prove this.

unfortunatly as it stands there is also a section 59 on the car. this is valid until 26th december 2011.

I'm after £1800 for it. going for a quick sale!!

pm me if interested.

Isn't the section 59 on the driver no the vehicle?

Isn't the section 59 on the driver no the vehicle?

Yes, but if your driving the car on 2nd offence they take it.

Even if its a different person? :lol:

I thought it was, if you as the named person in the named vehicle on the section 59 commited the same offence then the vehicle would be confiscated, not sure if another driver committed the same offence in the same vehicle and the original person was'nt near the car, But I'm thinking it would just result in a new sec 59 with the new driver and the same car, afterall it's the driver that controls the car, not the car controlling the driver!!!! Afterall a taxed, MOT'd & insured car stationary can commit very few offences, unless it's parked illegally!!!

Continuing all this, if you as a person sitting in someone else's car you are also forbidden to be in that "asbo" area as i got caught out as i went to the same place where i got my section 59, went in my mates car as a passenger and the bloody same women officer recognised me and said i told you not to come back here and told me politely not to return at this time when i know a cruise is on.

Basically i wasn't allowed to attend a car cruise in an asbo area, unless i explained i was shopping or going cinema etc etc.

Isn't the section 59 on the driver no the vehicle?

both

Even if its a different person? :lol:

haha yeah if I'm driving another car in the same mannor car gets taken, if someone drives my car in same mannor car gets taken.

yep both the driver and car like urbis said.

Even reving your car unesasaraly is deemed anti social, so that can give you a section 59 for it.

But the sec 59 doesnt follow the driver to his/her next car. It is only when the driver and car from the formentioned "crime" are teamed together they can enforce the 2nd offence rule, with as someone already stated, confiscation of the vehicle. I was lucky, i got 59d in two seperate cars within a month (few years back) used to be a dick before lost my licence... Anyway yes i got away with it as i asked to see the written enforcement letter. This clearly stated both car and driver had to be matched on both occasions.

What bullshit!

If I buy a car off someone who turns out to be a c.unt with a previous sec 59, and then get some wheelspin in the wet or something... how the fuck does that entitle them to take my car? Just because the previous owner did the same thing or whatever???

59 Vehicles used in manner causing alarm, distress or annoyanceE+WThis section has no associated Explanatory Notes

(1)Where a constable in uniform has reasonable grounds for believing that a motor vehicle is being used on any occasion in a manner which—

(a)contravenes section 3 or 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (c. 52) (careless and inconsiderate driving and prohibition of off-road driving), and

(b)is causing, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public,

he shall have the powers set out in subsection (3).

(2)A constable in uniform shall also have the powers set out in subsection (3) where he has reasonable grounds for believing that a motor vehicle has been used on any occasion in a manner falling within subsection (1).

(3)Those powers are—

(a)power, if the motor vehicle is moving, to order the person driving it to stop the vehicle;

(b)power to seize and remove the motor vehicle;

©power, for the purposes of exercising a power falling within paragraph (a) or (b), to enter any premises on which he has reasonable grounds for believing the motor vehicle to be;

(d)power to use reasonable force, if necessary, in the exercise of any power conferred by any of paragraphs to (a) to ©.

(4)A constable shall not seize a motor vehicle in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by this section unless—

(a)he has warned the person appearing to him to be the person whose use falls within subsection (1) that he will seize it, if that use continues or is repeated; and

(b)it appears to him that the use has continued or been repeated after the the warning.

(5)Subsection (4) does not require a warning to be given by a constable on any occasion on which he would otherwise have the power to seize a motor vehicle under this section if—

(a)the circumstances make it impracticable for him to give the warning;

(b)the constable has already on that occasion given a warning under that subsection in respect of any use of that motor vehicle or of another motor vehicle by that person or any other person;

©the constable has reasonable grounds for believing that such a warning has been given on that occasion otherwise than by him; or

(d)the constable has reasonable grounds for believing that the person whose use of that motor vehicle on that occasion would justify the seizure is a person to whom a warning under that subsection has been given (whether or not by that constable or in respect the same vehicle or the same or a similar use) on a previous occasion in the previous twelve months.(6)A person who fails to comply with an order under subsection (3)(a) is guilty of an offence and shall be liable, on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale.

(7)Subsection (3)© does not authorise entry into a private dwelling house.

(8)The powers conferred on a constable by this section shall be exercisable only at a time when regulations under section 60 are in force.

(9)In this section—

“driving” has the same meaning as in the Road Traffic Act 1988 (c. 52);

“motor vehicle” means any mechanically propelled vehicle, whether or not it is intended or adapted for use on roads; and

“private dwelling house” does not include any garage or other structure occupied with the dwelling house, or any land appurtenant to the dwelling house.

its against both the car and vehicle, if the driver is caught again driving the car, or another vehicle in a manner befitting issuing of a section 59, they are liable to have the car siezed and potentially reported for an offence of dangerous driving. It is however at the coppers discretion, so they do not HAVE to sieze the car on the 2nd occasion.

How do they know it wasnt you and this is the reason your stripping your jetta down...its all a conspiracy... -_-
