Fuel pump

Featured Replies

Got a polo gt bready with carbs on it!!

What have people done when using the standard fuel setup?? Did you have to change any wires to get the pump too work??

At the moment a friend mechanic who had a look managed to sort it by bridging a connection on the fuel pump relay!!

So at the moment as soon as your put the ignition on the fuel pump constantly goes but it almost sounds like the primer pump noise ( could just be the normal pump but is loud coz the car isn't running )!

So just thought I'd ask quick what people have to get round it as I can't sit with ignition on as the pump constantly goes!!

Sorry if this seems like a silly question lol

Cheers

Had another listen!!

It's not the primer running all the time it is the main pump

As you can hear the primer pump come on and go off!!

But if I unbridge the relay once the primer stops there is nothing!! So what tells the main pump to fire up once

The car is turning over?? Someone must know lol

Cheers

anyone got any ideas on this??

What tells the fuel pump to pump once the engine is turning over??

i have removed the ecu and all the wiring so there must be something i have missed somewhere along the lines!

If anyone could help that would be great!!

Thanks

Rich

I may have the same problems when i convert my mk2 to fuel injection, where do i put the wires for the lift pump and the inline pump

also where do i run the ines from the lift pump. I've heard different ways of doing this but any help would be appreciated.

also any pics of wiring/pumps or fuel lines would be verry helpful as i haven't seen any before on here.

sorry for the hijack but it might benifit more than 1 of us  .

Thats how mines wired, but I have an inertia switch fitted so it will cut out in an accident.

But why would you have your ignition ON when your not going anywhere?

If I need to do work that requires the ignition on then i pull the fuse from the relay (fused relay).

Wiring runs internal of the car, mk3s have a grommet in the boot for the wires to pass.

lift pump lines go down the front of the tank, inlet goes to the accumulator and then to the injection pump.
