iv stuidly forgotten my new password for my login on windows vista, theres is a password reset but you need something on a disk to do it. u ca use any flash drive/ floppy/ cds etc for it but i dont have it. does anyone no what i can do without taking it to a pc shop??

Is it the only account you have installed on the computer?

As a last resort check this....You need access to another PC to make the disc.

As it states you can lose access to encrypted data on the drive if you do have any but if you have no other choice then this is your only option.

Does the PC have a default admin account or was that set up under your username?

Lol windows security is pretty shocking. You can wipe any password by simply entering cmd prompt before the PC boots into windows.

There is software which runs on DOS that will automatically find the passwords in the windows registry and delete the value.

Restart PC and login without needing a password.

Yup what the above links offer. Just a Live CD/USB device that will boot to DOS and search for the SAM files that contain the 'encrypted' login data and extra it and edit it before over writin it.

Helped many a times with having to do PC repairs and users not remembering/forgetting passwords.

Simple to do. Can cause issues with some data access but its never anything major.
