Wahayy! wondered how long it would take for a build. Get some better pics up though, i hate it when they're propper small!

What's your plans for the engine?

  • Author

Haha  my cameras broke max so bought a cheapy one just waiting for it

engine wise not 100% sure just yet its got a webber carb onit but its still slugish

1.6 AEE on carbs is the route id be going for a new engine when it comes to that i think

cheers

bet that brace wont fit. the mounts are at the wrong angle. if you look at an original ged bar, one is at an angle to the other (around 30 degrees different)

Is the engine a hyrdo head? (should have a simular rocker cover to the one you had in your breadie)

Or is it a mechanical head? (8-10 small bolts around the circumfrance of it) , My mk3 has the coupe S bottom end with ported & polished GT head and cam, weber DMTL (slightly bigger, refined version of your DMTR) and it goes pretty well.

yeah thats right, one tab should be angled to fit the nearside mount IIRC.

Shouldn't be hard to bend it abit if youve got a vice?

What's going on with those welds?

They look fine :?

Looks fairly untidy, perhaps I expect perfection as my brother is a welder?!

Ah well, as long as the welds don't break then you'll be 'reet!

Yeah granted they look untidy but structurely they look sound

Yes max its a hydro head :)

tbh the most untidy side is the pictured weld but the others side pritty good

the lads only 17 and he works at shell enginering fairly good ,well better then what i could do LOL

the mounts fit fine tbh and i know what you mean one siode is slighty angled but does the job :)

I'm all taxed and insured now Yaaaaay!

Ah right so the 2G or MH engine then?

Get a GT cam in their and have a play around with some jets, My GT cam will be up for sale soon if your interested? With it all sorted you will be making GT power easily.

when i asked my mate hes said its a MH engine code

well i was debating on getting the card setup proply by someone local who knows webber carbs very well

gt could well be done

m.o.t is in july so ill get it through tht before i start upgrading everything i reakon :)

Cool man, i'm using the MH bottom end at the minute, Just the same as an AAV/3F to be honest.

With a well set-up DMTR + GT cam you'll see GT pwer no problem.

It now looks shit in the flesh, need to give it a good clean and tidy up.

Not yet, will get some soon though, still tuning in the weber!

Cleaning her or the oil? 8-)

Yeah its pretty pikey, will hopefully all be sorted out by this weekend, The fucking brand new camshaft oil seal is the culprit for the oil leak. Cant beleive it's leaking though, bag of shite!

Lol probably!

Engine: 1.3 ,webber DMTR Carb (i think)

Its actually a DMTL

I always found the car pretty pokey when Hannah owned it, you must be driving it wrong haha. Enjoyed driving it more than my AFH, perhaps thats because it wasnt mine!
