passed my test yesterday, blessin and a curse....

due to my 2 year ban for DD40 (dangerous driving) its costing 4 grand to insure my polo and I'm 21 years old....

why the hell is it so dear!!!! is there anything i can do to get it cheaper???

tryed mum dad sister granda on the policy still similar prices ... any ideas?

I dunno the names (Sure someone will come along with em though) But theres specialist insuers for Drink drivers and simialr so could give them a go?

Do less than 6000 miles a year and it's pennies,even for new drivers mate!

The only way insurance gets cheaper is to do a lot of shopping around and build up NCB and keep a clean licence - it takes time.

Being 21, you're still classed as high risk; which would naturally put you up to about the 2K mark anyway...and with a ban it's not surprising it's in excess of 3/4K

Best place to start looking would be a broker I would imagine...avoiding the comparison sites and speak to a person, explaining in very fine detail everything you can so you get a very tailored quote

i did actually i got harsh conviction they had no evidence but i didnt have a solicictor at the time so thought id plead guilty thinking i would maybe get 3 points (wrong) i received no points a 2 year ban and an extended reset, anyways i have put the misses and my mum and put the access up a bit and managed to get it for 1800, not to bad consider i was gettin double that ......

Nicely achieved that's good even for a 21yr old without the history!

Your not doin too bad, even £4k wasnt bad, considering your young, and had a ban. A freinds son just passed his test, and tryed to insure his ford KA. The quotes? Around the £7K mark! . Not surprisingly he's stickin too his motorbikes for now.

Exactly this, I was looking for car insurance on various cars for a good 5 months. I got quotes from £3K+ down to my current £790 for a whole year. That's 18 years old with 0 NCB.

Prices are high to keep you off the road simple as that.
