Open Air roof not opening

Featured Replies

My roof won't open!!

It had been fine, then one day gave up.

It would still work using the manual crank, until i snapped it while it was still in place.. So now i can't do jack with it!

anyone? :(

Have you checked your fuses? And also the switch, I know the switch on mine is a bit shitty which causes it not to function very well.

They're all fine, I'm positive the switch is ok as the motor makes a noise when you press it. I can't work out if the motor's not engaging with what it should be or what, at a loss on this!

weird.. it sounds like it could be the parts within the motor that are a bit knackered, as the main cog is only plastic and is known to be a bit naff.

Not exactly true :) Some of the motors come with all metal coggs, if yours has a plastic piece there is a guy in Germany who sells a replacement metal cog kit, it is pricey mind.

You may find that your motor has damaged the mechanism within the roof due to it having damaged or missing teeth on the main drive cog.

Where abouts are you, someone local to you may be able to help.

I've seen spare motor's on ebay that don't seem to pricey, is it an easy enough swap?

I'm down in Cornwall..

P.S. Does anyone know or could they check what the thread size on the manual crank is?
