6n starter motor on a J Plate mk3 polo?

Just wondering if anyone knows if the 6n starter motor will work with the mk3 fly wheel?

the cog on the 6n starter does not appear to engage as far out as the original starter but can see a way to check it will work with out removing the gear box to obtanin visibility of the fly wheel so thought I would see if anyone knows the answer already!

and our survey says... NO - the starter cog does not reach the fly wheel so cannot engage to crank the engine... just tried!
