Hello guys, just going to keep this short and sweet. This is the project log of my polo 1.3 genesis, i brought her off ebay with tax and mot, she ran sweet as a nut, but i wanted her as a project so i dint waste any time getting stuck in. More pictures to follow, i am also waiting to get my manifold back from bogg brothers for my bike carbs. I have orderd alot of new parts including: 80/60 lowering kit off philj on here, full gasket set, calipers, wheel bearings, piston rings, drive shafts + a few more odds and sods. I am waiting to get my struts back so i can paint them and build them up, plus i am waiting to get my manifold back so i can mate that to my head, and rebuild my engine :) as i say i will get the pictures up soon, thanks for looking.....

I think its about time for an update, been spending alot of time just recently on my polo, heres some pictures to show you what i've been doing...

Engine rubbed down and painted.

Strutts being primed up ready to be sprayed yellow.

Calipers being primed up ready to be sprayed red.

Crank casing after its been painted and had new seal.

Hub after its been painted.

Got my manifold back from bogg brothers and mounted it to my head (head is now skimmed and ports are polished ready to seat my valves.)

Right, a quick update, i got my piston rings yesterday and i brought a full mk2 polo ignition set to run my bike carbs. It wont be long now befor i am painting up my engine and re-building my bottom end. :)

I would get the head skimmed if i was you. Looks like it need's it.

Also, i wouldn't do much porting on the inlet ports, just make sure they're all nice and smooth,

Porting them too much is just going to decrease gas flow velocity up to the valve,

The best thing you can do is make sure the small side radius beneath the valve seat is smoothed off as there is a nasty casting flash mark.

it your doing it as a project and fitting an 80/60 kit

i have some advice

1 lower the steering arm on the front suspension strut so the track arm will sit near level when the car is on the ground

although for that work some might say make coilovers,its up to you

2 raise the engine a bit to take the strain off tour cv joints and make the drive shaft more level. other than that keep it up mate.

I'm lowered 80/60 and have no problems with drive shafts or steering arms nice progress bud keep it up
