I'm doing up my first car and because its my first car and its only a 1litre, i dont want to spend too much on it but i want it too look tidy as...

I've had ideas... I'm going to lower it on white steels (Flash Red 6n) mainly because of the fact it would look savage.

What would be the cheapest way going about having it lowered? I've seen a set of coilies for just under £200 but some people are saying lowering springs, Then one idiot said "cut the standard springs" i laughed at him...

Could ANYONE! give me the best idea??

cutting the springs will be cheapest!! and its not that stupid an idea

id go for cheapo coilovers though. Can get it sat just right then

cheapest way is definately cutting the springs, its also unsafe so i wouldnt bother if i were you lol

I've got cheap coilovers on mine and they're not that bad tbh so just go for it

depends how low you want to go. tbh id say coilies too, but theres no real prob in cutting the springs if there done right and your not going testing the car in the near future, or atal for that matter lol

Cheers :) my brother told me that the suspension could collapse if i chop standard springs or something like that and its really put me off the idea haaha, yeah I've decided on the coilies now, they're just in my budget so I'm happy with that, plus theyll probably give me a better drive.

hi mate, i have a set of coilovers for your car, they've never been driven on but was sat on my car outside before i had a licence, but then it failed an mot, so they came of and they've been in my garage for 2 years, never really bothered to sell em but there yours for £100. only thing is a mate drilled 2 more holes in one of the legs to try get them on another car, but still are strong enough.

Theres a few ways u could say cheap but you are safest opt is phil, his coilies are better than flee bays budgets and also comes with warranty of a person within the uk not flippin germany! Lol

So for ride quality, safeness and budget phils you man

I cuty springs on my mk2 golf, suspension mounts deteriated so say no more, but be prepared for what a low car brings u, cv joints, wishbones/bushes, driveshafts etc

cheep coilovers ftw most coilovers for 6ns are soo cheep you may aswell get some insted of cutting your springs :)

Yeah take a look in the sales section on here, there are always used coilovers coming up quite cheap.

I have those JOM coilies you are looking at buying, they're alright but i'd say the JT coilovers sold by PhilJ on this forum are better..and cheaper!
