Well its been a hell of a long time since I've updated this build thread! So lets blow some dust off it and get up to scratch!
First of all the start of this year we again moved units but this time into a much larger one, with even better lighting and a hell of a lot more room, but as per usual we soon managed to fill it with cars and crap!
Decided in the end I would keep my Compomotive wheels as they fit the arches perfect and allow me to run a decent size tyre so tyre choice is more open. They are 15 x 8j ET25 fitted up with some Toyo Proxie T1-R 195/45 at the moment so Ill see how they get the grip down once its on the road.
Finally got round to heatwrapping my downpipe in some good quality Titanium Heat wrap. My advice to anyone would be dont buy cheap heat wrap as mine caught fire... when temps were only at 300c!
I had a bit of a problem after a quick drive around the car park at our unit. I had a loud knocking coming from the engine bay, up on further inspecition the gearbox mount that i had made a couple of years ago had given up and snapped a bolt. Instead of replcing the bolt I decided to be best to replace the whole gearbox mount and fabricate something new and more heavy duty. Replaced flimsy 1.5mm steel with some 18mm box section, all TIG welded together and utilising the 20mm aluminium plate I had previously used. Then painted them up in black crackle. 1000% stronger and better looking in my opinion.
Everytime I opened the bonnet i wasn't happy looking at the big boost pipe that comes off the turbo, it was an original BAM L shaped pipe that I had chopped down to suit my cooler pipework routing. But just wasnt right, after a few messages exchanged with the legened that is Olly Bartlet I had sent him my pipe for him to replicate in stainless for me. Needless to say if you know the level of skill and craftsmanship that Olly does, it came out perfect. Cheers bro!
In June I was starting to think about the interior a little more, I did want a fully stripped track style interior...but I just couldnt do it. So after a lot of planning and thinking I found a company to make me a front set of carbon door cards...long story short they were useless and anyone who has me on facebook will know which company I am on about. So anyway after a few emails to a bloke in Poland I had some doorcards made and I have to say they are amazing quality, some of the best carbon I have seen and well priced, hit him up at Carbontec.pl . Happy to do custom one off stuff too.
Started to fit them up but not finished yet, will have purple alloy bolt caps all the way around to scure them to the door frame.
Another part of the interior...a guy who lives round the corner from me runs a flocking business called Flocking Fantastic so I had my rooflining, grab handles, sun visors, pillars, lower door trims all flocked in black. Came out perfect and again a really great price. Highly recommended.

Then I did loads more bits and bobs and got her on the road! Still yet to be mapped as I have had boost leak issues and then since I have blown the cheap poo turbo! So its back in pieces. But on the mend...

Sorry about the photo quality as facebook raped them... the photos are from Elsecar At The Races after she was detailed by ATD Detailing in Derby.

Ill put some more photos of the build up soon before she was done...

That is simply amazing.

So after going to Else car the Polo decided to start playing up, I kept losing all boost and after abit of investigation I found the exhaust side of the turbo has either eaten itself or had something go through it.
So to be sure I whipped the head off and found no signs of a foreign object or damage from one. So guessing that I was sold a bad turbo…

That brings me up to now, I’ve managed to get a very good condition k04-023 turbo and a Relentless Pro V4 manifold to fit on so should see a couple more ponies once she’s been mapped and then next show will be MIVW in Holland so need to cover some miles and make sure she holds together!

Here are some pictures to show where I’m at now.

Relentless Pro4 manifold bolted up to the head with new washers and copper nuts, ready to go back on.

The inlet and rocker cover had paint damage thus the stickers so these are being re painted before I fit them back on.

Couldn't fit the turbo without giving it a good clean first! and if you read this thanks for the grime out Elv!

Okay so as promised a few "before" photos of the car before she was done and in various stages.

Process of getting the Audi A3 clocks to fit into the Polo 6n2 Dash... abit of plastic welding, fibreglass and filler before it went to get flocked.

I tried my hand at carbon skinning from the kits you can get of eGay. Went okay but they need loads of finishing work still and lots more lacquer. They were my first ever attempts at it.

This was taken only a week or so before Elsecar as I wasn't happy with the 02A shifter it was sloppy and neither here nor there...so swapped it out for the 02J shifter system which is a must upgrade for any 02A owner!

Not much of an update, but one none the less.

Had a few spare minutes so whilst the throttle bodie was off it seems rude not to clean it up abit.

Stripped it down and got it blasted then etch primed it and layed a few layers of matt black on it before I filler prime it then paint it in the same purple as the roof and bay (Nissan midnight)

It was in a right mess to begin with from bad prep and previous paint...

Hopefully ill get some time to spend up the unit and get this, my rocker and inlet all painted up and get the engine back together for a spirited drive!

As always @mattiecn on insta for other build photos.

thanks!

So got quite abit done with 4 hours I had spare over the weekend, managed to get the throttle body and inlet painted and then ran out of paint after the guide coat on the rocker cover <_<

But managed to finish up fitting the turbo lines and downpipe, then set about getting the new head gasket and head on with new bolts.

The inlet was treated to an 034 Motorsport Phenolic spacer, these are 10mm thick and is gonna give me a few clearance issues with my bonnet so going to have to notch the bonnet skeleton out which is no biggee really.

Then once everything was in place I set the timing marks up and slipped the Gates belt back on.

Hopefully more of an update later this week and running proof!

As always for bits and bobs its @mattiecn on instagram.

Seeing as it was a lovely evening last night and a local dub meet was on at 8pm I thought I'd give the girl a clean up and have a nice drive out.

Ran beautifully with no problems!

So here are a few photos after I got back to the unit.

A few of you may have seen but gave the girl a run out to Dub Fiction Show on sunday (run by Julian Loose), turned into a pretty decent day weather wise and the quality of cars was very good!

Here are a few of mine I took in the sunshine (excuse the streaks from the heat drying out the QD)

NOW BREAKING!

ALL PARTS MUST GO!

THERE IS A AD IN THE CARS BREAKING SECTION ON HERE!

GO CHECK IT OUT!

Ah that's a shame @Mattnaz what's the reason you're breaking this now?

A lot has happened in the 5/6 years ago that I started this, I'm now a father to a beautiful boy and bought a house with my mrs. I am not the young boy anymore and have grown out of the polo to be completely honest. I've bought myself a new daily in the shape of a mk3 Octavia VRS tsi dsg which has the potential for over 300bhp so I don't see the point in having a fast weekend car that's actually slower than my daily. So selling this up and going look out for a weekend/show crusier mk2 jetta coupe.

unfortunately yes!

Would it not make more money selling it as a whole?

I had it advertised as a whole for a while and didn't gain interest thus why I'm splitting it mate.

What's your price for the whole car? Might be worth putting another advert up on the classifieds and share it on social media?
