Getting messed about by ANOTHER painter.

Point 1 - Took my bumpers down the start of October says he will have them done by the 28th... he hasnt even started them yet.

Point 2 - Said he'd have my car done over the 12/13/14th oct...then said weekend after the 19/20/21st oct then said weekend after 26/27/28th... then not heard from him after repeated texts and calls.

So gonna end up doing it myself at this rate, I'm going to do all the prep and paint myself in the bay then once shes all up and running etc ill drive it to a paintshop to get the roof done.

No pictures of anything yet, really getting pissed off at people... only thing holding me back.

On another note my brake adaptors have been made and they fit bang on so thats all good, done the drilling needed to fit the Audi gearshifter too.

Also seam sealed all the welds around my engine mounts so there all weather proof now, going to tidy it all up tomorow and put a skim of filler round certain bits to tidy it up then get some heavy build primer on it next week if i can get a new pressure switch for my compressor.

Well this is very late indeed, but... finally got the car back today! It was finished monday but there driver couldnt get it down to my unit untill this afternoon and unfortunatley I'm at work so can't start cracking on with it untill tomorow morning. So its an early start for me in the morrow!

Soon as i get up there in the morning I'm going to paint the brake servo then let that dry whilst i nip out and get the rest of my brake fittings that I'm missing so i can crack on and start to fit the lines. The subframe is also coming off again to go get powdercoated along with the lower arms. Ordering a full set of polubushes for the front too. Time to get this show on the road.

Heres some eagily awaited pictures of the bay sprayed up, the roof has been done but cant quite make it out on the pictures.

A bit of an update on what i did this morning. Nothing to exciting as i didnt want to roll out of bed today, i primed, painted and laquered my brake servo in gloss black and it came out pretty well considering how cold and moist it is in our unit. The whilst i was waiting for that to dry between stages i dried out the inside of the polo due to it having no windows etc whilst it was outside at the paintshop waiting to be dropped off it got a little wet so got loads of mats inside dried it out then chucked my heater in there for a couple of hours, its all bone dry now which is good.

Anyway less babble heres the evidence.

The brake servo prepped and flatted...

Cheers man, slowly but surely making progress now and having the bay painted means i can crack on with the brake lines etc...

Oh my god.... that colour is amazing! haha. :)

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the progress

So not alot really happened today, spent most of the morning sourcing bits and helping my mate out with his rallye but did get a few bits done.

Went and picked up some rear flexi hoses for the gti conversion, not really bothered about having braided on the rear so they cost all of £13 after finding out TPS cant get them, euro car parts wanted £45! So got them from GSF in the end.

I cracked on with sorting out the last bits of the interior/lighting loom whilst my mate whipped the rear brakes off so we could drop the beam but that didnt happen due to lack of time and it was rather sunny outside...

but the loom is now ready to be put in the car and ran where i want it to, also chucked my seats in which i dont think I've posted about but haven't got any pictures anyway so you can wait untill monday now for a what should be a decent weekend for progress.

Heres a couple o' snaps for evidence and so you dont have to read all my bullshit words...

One of the subframe off, the steering rack is still on here but shows how much we were rushing before i had to get to work. Thats going to the powdercoaters monday.

I promise a big decent wordy and picturey update Monday, have a good weekend!

  • Author

Well i dont think this quite fills the promise for a big update but got a lot of fiddely jobs done and out the way. Got a few pictures including my new seats that i dont think I've shown before.

So over the weekend ripped out the rest of the old brake lines that were hiding behind the tank heat protector plate, along with the rear bias valve which for the record are one of the fiddliest things to remove there was a lot of swearing involved.

Whipped off the rear beam too which i ended up stripping both the bolts due to them being never touched, the original bushes are in the good nick but they were taken out anyway.

heres some pictures.

Rear beam off...

Fitted the interior loom and passed the bay wiring which has the lighting loom etc through the bulkhead which was a right bastard had to take the ecu plug apart to get it though. Chucked the coolant bottle in for good measure too.

Fitted all my kunifer brake lines last night, need to get some rear flexi's made as gsf gave me the wrong ones...twice. So going to see a mate at pirtek and get some goodridge lines made up. Fronts are all done.

Picking up my Air set up tommorow so can get that fitted up and in, then can bolt up the hubs and stick the front brakes on whilst I'm waiting for the subframe and rear beam back from the powdercoaters.

So making progress, UD looks promising at the minute will update with pictures thursday most probably.

good progress dude =D what air setup you got?? I've got air to be fitted on my golf but have no idea how to go about it lol
