I picked them up on ebay mate. They were actually being sold as Ford Fitment but all it means is that i have to buy another set of bells or get mine redrilled to 4 x100 and buy or get some adaptors made up but i got them at a bargain of £400 and spent £40 in petrol picking them up from London

Mattie is using a Standard 02j box I believe.....you can use a 02a box as well though but will need the G60 flywheel/VR6 clutch combo too :)

Yeah I'm using an 02j 5 speed box, but there's 02a and if you wanna go 6speed I beleive its a 02m.

also if you can get your hands on an 02s box out of a sharan, its the same width as an 02j so no chopping up your chassis leg

Yupp a 02a CTN Diesel box :) - Only had to take out small piece of the Chassis leg in the end, welded the rest back up :)

i think the new polo gti 20v boxes are similar size to 02j and 6 speed

This is interesting, might have to look into this a little further. Though not sure if i really would want 6 speed...

Moved her into her new home today, despite the absolute abononation of rain we had up here.

Will get some pictures up tommorow when i have some decent light, but the engines pretty much stripped now ready to be buzzed down and painted then rebuilt with a port matched S3 inlet, TT 225 injectors, Smoothed Rocker cover and all other bits will be cleaned and either bead blasted and laquered or going satin or crackle black.

Watch this space this is gonna get mashed.

 Nothing to hide its just amasing what peopel pick up here and there and just remember  OH well I'm not doing as bad as Guy, people know my name everyone knows hes a bumder  I'm safe saying that, he never ventures into the mk4 section hahaha

Haha, not entirely true as when he came to fetch some headlights off me he asked me about my conversion... so he must of ventured into the section for a least a quick glance to have known about it.

Maybe he's a secret mk4 lover? (As much as i doubt it)

Picture of my new daily, pic it up this tuesday as a daily drive/project. Shes a 1991 Late MK1 Caddy with a super duper powerful 1.6 N/A Diesel under the bonnet chucking out the best of around 40bhp. HA!

Gonna love driving it round and sell the valver as I'm bored of it.

Been stripping the engine down today, getting all the anciliaries, manifolds, hoses and pipes etc etc off so i can start cleaning and prepping for paint.

Got the box of today aswell to see a destroyed clutch, I haven't got a clue how it drove with 4 pressure points on the pressure plate rather than the 10? it should have...

Anyway couple of pictures how I'm looking right now.

8-) Whats the plans with the engine bay mate? Final looks wise. Sorry if you've mentioned it already and i didnt notice it.

Its alright i don't think you have anyway, I'm going to be trimming and smoothing a little bit but nowhere near what Harry is doing, i did orignally plan to get rid of the scuttle panel but with my running standard ECU and wiring it'll be more effort thats it worth but I'm still going to try and keep it as clean and tidy if possible. i.e. OEM wrapping all the wires, connectors, hoses, lines etc, just to make it look neater and not look like someones just grabbed a 1.8T and shoved it in a Polo... :ninja:

  • Author
haha, OEM would be really nice :-) Just thin down some bits you dont need, not so much ''smoothed'' more tidied :p

Yeah thats exactly it, everything will be there just neater and cleaner :), its amazing what an actual clean engine bay looks like compared to a greased/oiled up one tbf.

Did some more on the engine yesterday, got the old sump off, gave it all a good clean and a scrub. Its basically bare now part from the manifold which won't need to come off again. Stripped off the sump and gave it a quick wipe over, scraped all the old gasket sealant off and cleaned all the bolts up. Was going to strip my clutch and flywheel off and replace with my G60 lightened and balanced flywheel and an Carbon VR6 clutch but haven't got a 6mm 12 point torx bit in the workshop. So picking one up today and hopefully get all that off and sorted.

Anyway less babbling and a few pictures oh and don't look at my slinging techniques...
