June is good to say i wanted it done 8 months ago! haha, yeah man that would give me a right kick up the arse :)

My problem is my daily is a Caddy so i just keep spending money on that to fix it and make it better, just put some Banded steelies on it today! woop. Polo time.

So little update just to show what i did Saturday.

Re-built my steering rack with new bits and gave it a lick of paint, then fitted it onto the subframe, put the locking nuts on then the new track rod ends and bolted up to the hubs. So all the steering bits and bobs are brand new/recconed.

Pictures show my painted hubs, new wheel bearings, new coilovers, new track rod ends, new lower arms, repainted sub frame.

(the copper stuff is copper grease)

Can also see on the picture below where I've cut out for extra gearbox clearence then seam welded.

Also had a spot of bad luck yesterday... went to change the belt and waterpump on the 1.8T and seems i have a stuck exhaust valve on the first cylinder so might have to whip the head off for a look. Good job i have a spare set of brand new headbolts.

Long time no updates! Just a little one...

Well ill start by saying that the engine hadnt dropped or got a stuck valve! :-D It was a clearence issue with a bolt on the clutch as I've got rid of the dual mass, but a quick going over with the dremmel and its all gravy

Been many distractions ovetr the passed few weeks that have stopped me working... these being a couple.

Obviously the Caddy broke again (great daily) so heres abit of Caddy love with the local dub knowitall Dan Moody and his project.

Anyway back to the Polo project!

Started on fitting up the front brakes and adapting the Alfa Romeo Bells so i could mock up the mounts for the brakes, so i drilled up 2 holes so i could mock up. Now i can get some drawings made and some adaptors machined up, also need some new bells making up as Hi-Spec want crazy money for new bells.

Thats all for now whilst i wait for my shift partner at work to get back from his hols with my Gearbox mount! 3" Stainless and 2 V-Bands ordered aswell.

after looking at the poloshow pictures, it looks like mk4s were in short demand this year. Thinking you harry and josh need to get your 20vts built up...panda needs to get his back in the loop and maybe I need to get back and build something as poor old Rob would have been lonely lmao

I'd have gone down but i had a feeling the mk4's would be in short supply and the majority that show are mk3 owners...no love for the mk4 anymore :( Naz should have his finished off soon too so we'll have to organise a 20vt polo gathering at a show next year.

Small update, my shift partner came back to work today so could get my GearBox mount I've had made.

You'll see i made a mock up mount using 1" steel box section then through so weld on it...literally. Took this down to the machine shop and got on machined out of billet 1" ali, its pretty light but strong, didnt want it looking to pretty so just going to polish it and slap a plaque on it, to show I've designed and built the car

I did take some pictures of it after i'd spent 20mins polishing it with a wheel and soap but theyve gone walkies so all i have is these for now, big update hopefully tommorow, when i get this fitted.
