Okay so got a few more pictures of what i did this morning before work.

This is the mount after id hit it with a medium mop and some soap for about 20mins, this will get proper polished eventually.

Had a proper look round the back and underneath to see how much actual clearence i had and to be honest I'm glad i notched out the subframe as i can only just get about 2 fingers in there...just tight enough

As long as the diagram jogs your memory enough when you are making it then its all good

its been 18...

Right so here are the pictures from what i was doing last night - DOGBONE MOUNT!

After doing my drawing it gave me an idea of what i could make up.

Decided to utilise the orignal Polo mount and chopped the backside off which houses the rubber bushes and decided the gearbox side would be a solid bolt up.

After i chopped that i thought it would be better to cut all the way down to the base but forgot to take a photo.

Then took all the rubbers out of it, blasted it with some sand and then gave it a lick of paint.

I then cut a small length of box section and a longer peice, drilled a 12mm hole in the furthest end and welded them at 90 degrees and welded to the original mount pivot.

Then blasted that and gave it a lick of paint.

Not really, i work in machine maitenance. So i only have to work when a machine breaks down so i make sure i fix them properly so they dont break again

Okay the pictures finally sent through, fitted it this morning and this is how she sits now. Still need to try the bonnet on to make sure I've got it right but didnt have anyone up at the unti to give me a hand.

Great work, that sump looks really really low ha, thats why mine has shit ride height, is there any shorter sump and pump you can bolt on for more clearance?

check out awesomeGTI...they sell it as a complete kit, but you can cut and reweld the oil pickup to suit the sump and with your welding skills, you should also be able to weld in a boss for the oil return and still be able to use the oil level sensor...the kit awesome gives you uses an adapter for the oil return to bolt onto where the level sensor would go (guessing this can get mapped out if theres a light up on the dash).

I've already got the shallow sump on haha yeah bought it from awesomegti, came with everything needed to fit it. Good peice of kit to be honest.

But it still only sits about 2" higher than the original. Its around 4" off the floor atm but the front will need to drop about an 1" for my stance. So should have a decent clearence...

Well probably the smallest and most boring update ever is coming up...

Fitted handbrake cables along with new cable clips for the calipers all Genuine VW aswell except the nuts for the lever...they were found in a pot in a cupboard...

Then started to do abit cutting out of the uneeded wiring, still got all this mess to tidy up though. Plan is at the weekend take it all out the car as i now know what is what so can lay it on the floor and rip it all out easier.

Then took the Comps off the rear and fitted some P-Sluts for the time being, knocked out the steel radius inserts out the wheels so i can now get the tyres taken off and powdercoated then fit up the 888's and see how the sit on the front as i have some 20mm spacers to try too, no pictures though! Probably no update till monday now but we shall see.

What handbrake cables have you used? do they go to rear disc set-up?
