What handbrake cables have you used? do they go to rear disc set-up?

Running a Polo gti set up and have to use the polo gti cables. I had to get the clips that hold the cables onto the caliper too as my set up didn't come with them. Only a couple of quid from tps ;)

Chaps, on a serious note. Do any of you have trouble with clearence to your Brake Master Cylinder? Mine sits directly to the side of the cam pulley and i have literally 2mm clearence. I know this isnt going to be enough, what i want to know is there a different cylinder i can fit? I.e. one thats and 1" shorter but has a bigger diameter so i can keep the same pressure? My mate said something about a Fiat one thats available?

or a relocation kit?

Any help would be appreciated.

cheers in adavnce.

Sorted my master cylinder issue... Seat did a stubby version on the Mk3 Ibiza Cupra's and its bigger at 23mm ;) just got one off the bay fully working for £18!

Boom.

not that simple :) i use the same one...you need a spacer about 4mm in thickness because you'll lose braking efficiency otherwise.

When you bolt this stubby MC to the polo servo, it will start to depress inside as you tighten the two 13mm nuts...to stop this, you need a spacer between the servo and the MC with a gasket made of rubber to seal them all together (not sure if this is 100% necessary but i'd rather not risk it without it).

I knew this ;) actually did some research for a change but from what i read it was a 3mm spacer? ill be making one at work anyway, if the 3 doesnt work ill make another :)

Thanks for the heads up though Sanj

3mm gasket and 2 thick card gaskets, 4mm all together maybe?

3mm gasket and 2 thick card gaskets, 4mm all together maybe?

Probably I'm pretty sure that if i make it thicker it would be better than having it too thing. So thinking 3mm spacer plate and then 1mm gasket paper either side ;)

Got some work done on putting all the pipes back on the engine yesterday and figuring out where I'm going to put my intercooler piping etc...

Had 2 of my tyres taken off so i can get the wheels to the powder coaters for a lick of satin black, then going to get my tyres fitted up.

Also bough...Full 2 1/2" Intercooler piping kit, SAAB Red Injectors, Ibiza Cupra Stubby M/C and my stainless for the exhaust has finally arrived :)

No pictures unfortunatley.

there is another way to do this...check this out:

http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?248164

Most will now drill down the MC to get the 3mm clearance instead of the spacer...next time i do this, i wont be having a spacer made

I did wonder if i could do that, but thought that if no-one else had there must be a reason.

New plan cheers Sanj ;)

Right seeing as it payday tommorow I've ordered a few more bits to use up my leftover cash :-D

-25ft of Kunifer Brake line

-Goodridge Stainless Braided fuel lines and aeroquip fittings (going to weld stainless fittings to the fuel rail to fit it all)

-Goodridge stainless braided brake flexi's

-All fittings for brake lines

-Brake adaptors currently down at the machine shop being made for the end of next week (lazy backhanders...)

Received my SAAB injectors yesterday so taking them to a local shop for electro cleaning so they are perfect.

Not got my intercooler kit or Seat M/C yet though :(

Okay couple of pictures of what i did the other day...

Started to put some piping back on but got bored and fed up, plus most of the pipes need cleaning (blasting) and then painting, but got the intake on and the after turbo pipe. Ill be moving the after turbo pipe as i cant run my hose down in front of the alternator due to clearence issues... so I'm going to be cutting it off where it bends and re-welding it so i can run the piping down the wing and into the front bumper.

A rough cut out of where the inlet sits in the slam... and this is how I'm running my throttle body. Only way i can run it with being able to shut the bonnet :? Hopefully it wont cause any issues...
