Ok so have scrapped the wood... It was getting on my tits a bit, came up lovely with a gallon of t-cut tho...

Re-sprayed the bumpers black and white, re-sprayed wing mirrors, fitted side exit exhaust (needs modifying a bit), Re-trimmed interior, fitted new pancake filter to the webber, cleaned engine bay, took new angle grinder to bonnet, fitted new brake pads, fiddled and fettled with the carb, fitted new offside driveshaft and CV boot, put new light brows on, and gave the car a bloody good clean...

Still sat standard ride height on the front thanks to problems with the offside strut and bottom arm...

Anyway have a look see what you think of her at the moment!!

the money and time you spent on this, even if you just got some nice wheels and lowered it, you'd still get attention but this time for the right reasons?

Don't get me wrong, i love attention, and i know how it is, but this imo, isn't the way to get it!

The car was stripped and modified for banger racing, wrote off my winter car and had sold my summer car so this was put on the road in a rush with odd bits and bobs, the interior is all different hence the coverings.

So far the only thing that cost any real money was the wheels at £20

other than brakes, tires etc that you would have to buy for any car

the car was free,

passed MOT first time with no work,

engine had cambelt snap whilst in a mechanics hands so he replaced the engine, gained a webber carb for free off an old escort

fabric was free, paint and tape i had lying around, stickers where 20p in surf shops.

The only thing that has been spent is time!

I get a lot of people saying good things about the car and enjoy it simply because its different

Paint the bonnet and wing mirrors blue, paint the wheels all one colour of your choice and chop the front springs in half. Wont cost you more than the price of a couple of rattle cans, and it'll look sweet as.

I have a set of coilovers, but every nut and bolt for the suspension is sheared on the front,

more work has been done, new grill, wing has been stripped rusted and had chequers matching the bonnet.

Also have a set of G60 steels but am looking for some teledials at the moment

Mclovins guide to forced rat look

Section one, less is more... loose the stuck on shit, paint all the green shit black, replace bonnet with one the original colour.

Section two, the fun begins... smash the funk out of the arches in a Pikey attempt at rolling them, add a few dents but try not to get too carried away (easier said than done as it is a lot of fun lol), age the paint how ever you can but try and steer clear from just rubbing bits of the paint off as its very difficult to get to actually look any good (although it can work), try thinking outside the box for example rolo smeared his mk3 in cement with very good effect.

Lowering, dedication is needed... take which ever route you need to with this but the end result really needs to be the same, literally on the floor -80mm just won't cut it here, you need to be damaging the public highway everytime you roll this bad boy.

Wheels, probably the most important part of the puzzle... Pimp as hell, wide as fuck and sitting as close to the arch as possible.

Done, it may not be any thing ground breaking but if you get it right it would be proper menacing and cool as hell, also much more unique than a car covered in stuck on tat

I like Rat-look but not this Rat-look. Not my cup of tea mate, sorry. Mines only rat look cos the car came with numerous parking dents, trolly dents and i've driven it into a bush due to tha Council not cutting the damn thing back! (Gave them a head start when thay finally got round to it lol). Rat is a slow, gradual process in my opinion. Like art, you can't rush Rat. But at the end of the day if you like it, you like it but it's not Rat. You can't Rat a tidy car, that's not fair on the car. DO NOT FORCE THE RAT LOOK!! Lesson over, move on and have a nice day =D
