i thought it was only polo related questions i could ask in the technical area lol cheers

I've seen other questions about other stuff on here so i haven't got a problem, and id rather we be a helpful forum lol

presume you have tried ed38??

no i haven't lol but thanks ill ask on here then give ed38 a whirl

I've had many, I know all about mk3's, but the one most important thing is :

Whatever you can do in a mk3 you can do in a mk2, so don't bother with the 3.

Other than that they rust for fun?

Erm edition or possibly club gti if you've got one a gti, other than that, not sure

lol I'm not buying MK3 golf as i do prefer the mk2, but i have a vento GL lol

I had a vento Gl. £200 from ebay.

Had a CL, £64 from ebay.

I know all I need to know about the mk3 golf and that is that they are shit and I will never own another one.

You love mk3's Guy.

Just admit it and be happy with yourself.

i paid £250 for mine 2.0l, was only bought as a family runaround, as was a squeeze gettin both my sons in the back lol

I'd rather rock a Vento than a mk3 Polo.

I'd rather eat my polo than drive a mk3 golf

Id rather drive a Vento to work and drive my Mk3 Polo for fun!

Oh wait, thats exactly what i do!

tried clubgti.com?

I'm now signing up to ed38 as i got impatient and bout a vr6 splitter for my vento and it doesnt fit DOH!! lol never mind

They Rust in serious places really badly...

They aint as bad as everyone makes out.

I've had 3 and 2 of them didnt rot whatsoever, 1 of them did but it wasnt as bad as, say, a 6N.

Apparently after '96 they were galvanised.

I like Mk3's because of the diesel engines & power steering aspect. You can ride them super low on baloon tyres and dont hardly notice it's lowered, put some comfy recaros in it and it'll take you anywhere in comfort. Wouldnt condsider an 8v, 16v or even a vr6 tbh, all shite (VR makes a good noise though).

Joe

I had 2 and they were both worse than I expected

The 1.4 was so rotten that it was scrapped when the mot ran out, among other things the sills were literally like paper

The vr6 was just a shit car, dull in every way and and rust was starting to eat into that as well.

Any thing a mk3 can do a mk2 can do better... except for being shit and dull, the mk3 excels in that respect

The 6n' and mk3 golf (and any other vw of that time) were a by product of vw putting costs before customers and by god it shows. When you have owned a mk1 scirocco that's been neglected and off the road for years that has less serious rust on it that a 90's golf that still has mot it kinda puts it into perspective. It was far from being a problem only associated with vw tho, most of the big companies did the same around that time using cheap recycled metals and plastics while cutting back on rust protection. It was around this time that they all started having to fit many safety features and gadgets making the cars much heavier and dumbing down the driving experience in the process.
