Shr3k's MK4 Polo

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Planning on doing alot of work to the car over the next few months so decided to start a build thread. I was a fabricator as trade but moved out to study computing so will do most of the work myself, and where needed my friend will be painting part's.

The car's slightly modified at the moment.

Lowered on Coilovers,

Speedline Alloys custom Painted black with Red Splatter,

Black bonnet, mirrors and spoiler (Black due to upcomming work and car colour changing!)

Drilled airbox,

Powerflow backbox

Pictures as it stands:

Plans:

- Sorting rust bottom of doors, arch and sill

- Smoothing tailgate: Welding plate in numberplate and badge recess on tailgate, will also remove handle and fit boot popper

- Smoothing roof bar recess, the 2 tracks on the roof. Havn't seen it done and think it will look nice

- May replace bumpers for 16v ones, however tempted to see what mod's can be done with normal 8v ones

- Door strips being changed for carbon ones

- Aerial being smoothed off

- Debadged grill

- Remove rear wiper

- Clear repeaters

- Sort any dents in car and then prepare care for painting, most likely black but unsure yet

Interior

- Fit gt seats

- Refurb all the interior

- Sub install in boot

- New steering wheel (Unsure which one yet, but most likely vw standard)

Engine

- Really unsure on engine at the moment. Tempted to put a 1.6 16v in but with the welder on hand anything could happen.

- Will be uprating brakes, discs ect as needed

I have probably missed stuff off but will update as I go along with pictures ect

Cheers

Well finally got round to starting front bumper today, Smoothing small grills and numperplate recess:

Smoothed numper plate recess using back bumper to weld a plate in, the line matches perfectly :)

Firstly a deep weld:

Then I went over it with the thick part of a soldering iron, without a tip to make it stronger.

Sanded down the entire bumper and then fibreglass:

Put a second coat of fibreglass on shortly after to build it up ready for sanding tomorrow.

So tomorrows plans:

- Sand Fibreglass

- Body Filler

- Sand bodyfiller

- Prep for paint (Cleant and solvent wash)

- Paint :)

It's going gloss black but have some treats planned ;)
