1.4 ABD/GT Hybrid engine for sale

Featured Replies

As titled, came out of my mk1 Golf and has been sitting for around six months. Still turns over fine. I only removed it because I was carrying out some resto work to the Golfs chassis, and instead of refitting it I decided to take the car back to its roots and fit a solid lifter engine.

Mileage unknown, but had new piston rings fitted by a reputable engine rebuilding company and they are now bedded in the recommended 4000 miles. Ran perfectly whilst I used it and it was the fastest my car has ever been. Had to be careful with the throttle because the wheels constantly wanted to spin up!

I bought the gearbox as a spare off Josh- 'Silver GT' when he converted his mk2 Golf to an ABF engine. I haven't ran the gearbox but I've been assured it was mint by Josh.

So, included are an ABD bottom end, GT/3F head with double valve springs and 'AF' stamped camshaft, and an 8P gearbox from a mk2 Golf.

£180 ono

Located in Stockport

Cheers,

Arun :-)

Pics will follow shortly

so roughly how much power do you think that was making? and in theory, could you drop a standard polo 1.3 engine out and run this instead with all the standard stuff including pierburg carb? i know youd have to use an electric fuel pump but apart from that...

I would estimate about 95 bhp at the fly, because I've previously had a GT/coupe S hybrid engine (without the GT cam) and when Bogg Bros set the carbs up it made 90bhp at the fly, but this ABD/GT with the GT cam was MILES faster, and the carbs were still set up for the previous 1300 engine!

But yeah you can drop this straight in instead of your polo lump and use the same fuelling, although the jets in the carb might need adjustment. :-)
