crap mk3 golf gti 2 point slow SOLD

Featured Replies

not going to sugar coat this in anyway it is what it is, if you think it's too much then simply move on.

1993 mk3 golf gti 2.0 8v

3door 107k miles

where to start - bought it as a stock gti last week, pulled the arch trims off and realised they'd done the usual and rubbed through the paint, unusually though the arches were rust free so onward, i first sourced a vento front with joey'd headlights, then debadged grill. next were some tatty tt comps and a set of 205/40 rubbers. whacked some 2nd hand ebay coils on it and threw it on the floor.

while i decided what to do with a clean body that needed arches blown in and silver vento bonnet painting a bought a set of vr6 door trims. the decision was taken to paint it and i mean paint not spray.

as this was never going to be a minter or warrent a full paint i opted for US military green which was applied with a roller and to be honest made for a crap matt finish, the wheels were done in satin along with the vr door trims and swapped out the gti clusters for red and amber 1.4 items and finally stencilled a satin US military star on the bonnet.

enough babbling - good points;

cambelt done at 100k

new discs and pads all round

scorpion stainless cat back

k&n cai

new window mechs

coilovers

tt comps with good rubbers (one brand new)

rear arches trimmed

front arches rolled

dirt shields trimmed

no rubbing

vento front

debadged grill

vr6 fogs (not wired)

vr6 splitter

vr6 door trims

anniversary gearknob + gator

anniversary handbrake

anniversary clock foils and red needles (included but not fitted yet)

tinted rear 3 windows (fronts are available)

mot'd at audi and 6 months tax just put on it

runs fine, no issues

bad points;

paintwork is rough - may flat with wet'n'dry or leave it to add to 'the look'

rear clusters have cracks (gti's included)

slight blow from exhaust (could be a clamp)

noisy reverse

minor oil leak from engine

possible wheel bearing on it's way (could be the rear need adjusting as new ones were fitted with discs)

crashy ride due to ride height

comps have no centre caps

tinted rear 3 windows

it's a mk3

done well over 1000 miles this past week sourcing parts and getting to work / moving house etc and hasn't missed a beat, drives well for what it is.

car is based in bracknell

photos do not show how bad the paint is so take my word for it.

price is £1100 or dare i say swap

will add pics later today

to be honest you can buy this stuff in rattle can off the shelf, given the option again i'd rattle it

http://www.dallasautoparts.com/

so you think rattle can has a better finish? at this point anything would be an improvement lol

yea , just take longer to prep / mask. did mine in a day including going to get paint / tape / filler stripping it and refitting it.

sounds like fun lol, 1 of my mates is a paint sprayer so masking it all will be fine but he hasnt got the compressor or anything to do it properly so cheapo rattle can way it is. tbh matt paint like that shouldnt look too bad with a can compared to metalic and stuff like that

thanks for the help mate :)
