I bought this car at the weekend (27/06/2011) and its my first car, what a beauty it is i'll upload some photo's to show you all what she looks like, it needs a bit of work of work the bonnet has been painted by hand and some point and is flaking off quite badly and the same as the wings... they haven't quite be aligned properly but that'll all be sorted. There are a few dents here and there but i've got someone coming out to remove them as i can't find the time this week to sort them and i'm away at College on block release so i'm gonna have them done and i'm going to have the car put in for a paint job(respray) hopefully the entire car but might just be the wings and bonnet for now. i haven't got a camera to take photos of my own and upload them just the photo's the seller sent me. There is also some rust on the bottom of the drivers door and part of it missing on the underside that needs sorting but looks like the door will need to be replaced urgh i can't find one atm but will do soon.

Future Plans: I want to get the windows tinted but a bit worried that it may make it a bit chavvy, and i want to remove the dash and all of the seats and redo the carpet as it is a bit baggy like alot of excess carpet where it hasn't been applied properly but will do that and replace everything back to how it should be. I kind of want to put bucket seats and a harness in but i'm not set on this it's just its so low it grounds out with 2+ people when its on the road so might aswell remove the bucket seats.

Thanks for looking, any tips on things or advice please let me know i've never worked on a car or owned one and i'm only 18 so still needing to get alot of practice and gotta learn alot!

(Forgot to say i also got the hardware to set the carbs fuel/air ratio up and plug it into the laptop and make sure it all runs properly but need to find the software to set it up)

Massive love for this! That interior is bang on! Did the front and rear seats require much modification? So sweet!

Honestly I haven't a clue it came like that most of the hard works been done for me ;) but i've had a look and it doesn't look too bad to do to be honest, they fit in pretty easy from what i can tell, but i can't say for definite as soon as i whip everything out of it i'll let you know!

Awesome dude! yeah no worries :) enjoy it!

I like this mate, dont happen to know what the splitters off do you?

I think that looks great... especially on 15's :)

Cheers guys, I know it looks good :-D

As for the splitter, i couldn't tell you what its off sorry buddy! i'll try and find out this weekend i'm having a strip down and gonna have a look because i had some bad news today :(

My dad took it to the spray shop today and the guy had a look over the car and he looked at the wings and the bonnet and told us it's cheaper for him to order new wings in and a new bonnet in than strip and re-spray so that looks like the plan or i'll rub them all down myself and just primer them ready for him to spray but i'll have to find a guide on how to do that because i haven't a clue how to! :?

Another problem he found was the scuttle pan below the window is going and has been filled at some point and its starting to rust again :x so looks like i've gotta pop the windscreen out re-weld a small panel into the area rub it all down underneath and put some anti-rust on it god this car is turned from my little beauty to my little project :-D

(will take some photos of it for you all soon as i'm back home on friday)

looks smart mate, like very much

how do the carbs sound through an airbox like that?

i just have a pipercross dome filter over all 4 so i just get the raw noise but i imagine that would change the note completely?!?!

  • Author

They sound pretty amazing mate, i'll be honest i get more exhaust and road noise when i'm in the car than i do carbs aha, but it does sound pretty good! i wouldn't know where to begin or compare sounds it's my first car don't know much about them aha, i'm using my knowledge bank (my dad ;) ) I imagine yours sounds a hell of a lot louder thn mine, i would take the box off but the carbs mixture would mess up and it's set up to run with no problems in winter, so i'll leave it

where did you get them wing mirrors from? :) nice looking car that

Been a while since i've been on here! just an update quickly tbh, had a bit of bad luck with my wee baby! radiator went and had to fit another one when i was doing this decided to rub down the fan housing and respray looks pretty sexy now not being bigheaded or anything... haha!

The altenator bearing is on its way out and is making a bloody racket so gonna get a new one of them from the scrappy or something pray to god there isn't the same problem and hopefully it'll be fine!

TODAY my fuel pump went... on the A14 and had to be recovered... fml, so now i've gotta get a new one of them but i'm thinking of going with a facet pump with an inline regulator and the worst thing in my opinion is the steering rack went! Fuck sake, so went scrappy and got a new one only cost me £20 with 2 headlights (mintt condition) was hoping to make it to the polo show too but didn't get the chance which sucks woulda been awesome to meet you all!

The bloke from diamond dents let me down too never turned up suppose that what happens when they say they're gonna do it a bit cheaper on the sly! ohwell!

loving the airbox mate! thinking of doing one for mine, just to quieten it down a bit and hide the carbs a bit more lol
