Featured Replies

Car: 1.4 1998 Polo CL

Mileage: 76,220 (Will change – used daily)

MOT: 20.03.12

Tax: 30.09.11

Location: Northampton

Price: £450 ono

Contact: Simon – 07977 696967 (anytime)

Good bits:

• Strong engine, uses no oil or water (cambelt changed at 63,712 - 29.01.10)

• 4 new Nexen tyres fitted (06.12.10)

• New clutch fitted this week

• Gearbox oil changed with clutch

• New brake pads fitted last week

• Rear two exhaust sections replaced a few months ago

• Rear bearings replaced for MOT

• Oil change, oil filter, air filter, thermostat & housing, coolant change all done 3 months ago

• Power steering

• Central locking (recent pump and door locks overhauled)

• Electric windows

• Electric mirrors

• Factory tinted windows

• Unused space saver spare and jack with all tools present

• Some service history, most of the old MOT's and receipts with original wallet and books

Bad bits:

• Bodywork - dented driver’s door, rear arches in primer and front valance in bad shape (spare included – had a couple of top coats of paint - needs lacquering)

• Alloys are fairly curbed and one tyre has a chunk out of the sidewall from a pothole, but not down to the plys

• Small fag burn in driver’s seat and some wear to bolster

• Reverse can be awkward (probably pedal box welds)

• Exhaust has a slight blow and the brackets catch slightly when cornering (needs adjusting to fit properly)

• No stereo but factory speakers are working

Some updated photos of the car after doing a bit of remedial bodywork and giving it a much needed wash.

I've pushed the dent in the drivers door out from the inside and it looks much better, but obviously not perfect and there is damage to the paintwork:

Other side of the car in pretty good shape, but this shows the extent of the knackered front valance. The spare has had a couple of topcoats with a VW rattle can, so colour match should be pretty good. It just needs lacquering which I will try and do if I get time:

Also an interior shot after giving it a good clean out:
