Tried a couple of months ago when a chav came running down the road chased by two coppers (that's got to be fair game), but I was in a corsa autospastic that couldn't decide which gear it wanted to be in, so I didn't manage to get him.

I stopped once for an old dude in an auto corsa. he was in the middle of the road broken down near the entrance to a roundabout which leads onto a busy A road,everyone was driving past him beeping so I stopped a little way back put my hazards on walked up to the car and asked if he would like a push off the road, so I did and asked if he had called the AA or RAC. when he said he did I disappeared in a plume of smoke (gotta love the mk2) so yeah I consider myself a stopper.

My sisters friend was driving through a lane at night and a babies pram was in the middle, she got out to see (thinking someone dumped the kid) and it was empty. She got back in her car about to drive off and a van came speeding up behind her flashing. All of a sudden the back door opens and a man ran off. The person in the van saw the man getting in and helped her by scaring him off.

Difficult situation though!

Something similar, my ex was driving home and there was a dust bin in the middle of the road, she slowed down to stop and move it but suddenly a crasy guy ran out from a bush or something towards her.. Luckily shes got an old mini coupe and could get round the bin and got away. She rang me straight after to tell me what happened and I couldn't believe it, needless to say she was pretty shaken...

These are the sort of things you've really got to be careful of because sometimes you have to stop to get through. I don't think I'd stop unless it looked genuine from the start, too many bad stories on the news and shit can't be too careful..

last time someone put things in my way on the road i ran em over regardless what they were thinking about it though i can see why a/e was so busy that night

I got a flat battery one night after sitting listening to music for a while, hadn't thought about my amp draining the battery pretty quick so tried bump starting it but couldn't get enough speed as the road is slightly uphill and I'm terribly weak and unfit. One person stopped but didn't have any jump leads and then left before I could ask for a push, then another person slowed right down and stopped, took one look at us (I was with my girlfriend), obviously saw that we were young and booted it! By this time the battery was so dead the hazards wouldn't even work, on a dark unlit road. Managed to push it back to where it was parked before, where i got all dizzy and threw up from all the pushing (I am THAT unfit), and had to walk home, by which time it was after midnight and my girlfriends birthday , she hated that car before hand and this didn't help.

Next day I went back with a mate and some jump leads, and being the f*cking idiot I am I hadn't shut my window after leaning in to steer it, and it had snowed all night. Thankfully we live in a nice quiet area, so it wasn't stolen, nor was my iPod I'd left in full view, which was now covered in snow.

Story over, and after that experience I think I'd have to stop for someone that looked stranded

I think the last few posts sum it up for me. If it was a busy road, in daylight and there was someone there I would probably stop. If it was a quiet, dark road and there was something sitting in the way, fuck it, I'd push it out of the way and be on my way.

I probably would tbh. stopped afew times in the past to see if they need a jumpstart or anything BUT i'm always armed with something and remove the keys before getting out the car.

I ran outta fuel one morning, a couple of days after moving into my new house and the chap next door stopped to make sure i was ok.

I`d just finished a late shift at work one night a couple of months ago so it was around midnight. I could see further down the road a gang of lads and girls, late teens/early twenties. Two of the lads were in the road drunk and walking towards moving cars, the cars were moving around them and the idiots were still walking out further into the car`s path. When I got to them one lad tried to walk into my path after I have already moved so I swerved right at him and put my foot down..

I was driving home from work one day, broad day light a few years back. The lane is a short cut, but little bumpy, so I rarely take it. Anyhow, I saw a caravan parked up in a passing area (single track lane) with all these pikeys knocking about. As I couldn't turn around, I drive slowly toward them, hoping they wouldn't give a shot about me. Wishful thinking as they all strode into the road in front of me, leaving me no option but to stop (wish is debatable since they are only tax dodging scum bags). So I locked the door and stopped. They started to surround my car, and one sat his fat arse on the bonnet. That was my cue! I gunned all 1.05l of polo and watched him spin off in my rear view! Silly bastard tried chasing and kicking my car as I drove off. It's slow, but not that sluggish! Nevertheless I avoided that lane for a while.

Few weeks later I bumped into a mate whose brother had been sat getting baked in the same place (in a 6n) and some pikeys attacked him an his car with an axe, writing it off and cutting his bro's leg pretty bad. Cops turned up abs tried shopping him for possession!

As for whether I'd stop, I have in the past, last one was a woman that had managed to get her citroen picasso stuck on the grass on the side of the road as she'd pulled in to let a truck past, pretty steep incline wheel spinning away, helped her out.

I'd like to think I'd stop again, guess it depends on the circumstances.
