Featured Replies

I've heard rumour that there might be another scrappage scheme in a few years time where they want to get rid of all old cars.

Has anyone heard of this?

well they cab get bent. sell my polo i would rather shuv wasps up my arse. i am not buying a new car. if they want me to have one they can buy me one.

they'l be round to force you to , you wont have to sell the polo cus no one will want it if they cant own one

sell it now while u got the chance lol

Its an EU purposed directive, it means absolutely nothing.

You will be allowed to keep and drive your "old" car but only for so many days a year or something. if thats the same one.

If it comes to that, I'll just have the whole fleet on the road and do the maximum days in each, then cash the tax back in.

Well it'd be stupid for them to pass a law saying ALL old cars have to be scrapped. I mean what about all the really expensive classics and all the original supercars? Would they pay the owners what the cars worth then weigh it in?? lol Probably will come to nothing anyway.

they're a bunch of bastards.MOTs are being made stricter as well, some advisories are now to become failures. It seems to me they're trying to get as many uneducated people to buy a new car under the pretense there old one is dangerous/too expensive to maintain.

I think Greece are doing their best to make sure this never comes in by bringing the eu to its knees :lol:

how old is old?

Bollocks, they could never enforce it.

Anyway there would be uproar and we could meet up with all the other heads and go on a epic cruise around london.

they most definitely wouldn't say that they must be scrapped, they'd just say that you're not allowed to drive it on the road, and probably give you more money for scrapping, so a lot of people would just scrap them and buy a new car.

so museums and places will still have the cars. and will probably get bigger.

Isn't it Belgium where cars over a certain year can only be driven within some thing like a 25 mile radius of your home? Sure I read some thing along those lines in a feature about a mk1 polo in max power years back

What this man said

What a load of rubbish!!! It'll never happen, there will never be enough police /government bodies to enforce this!!!

That and if you look at the last scrapage scheme there wasn't enough space to put all the cars, and that was an optional scheme.

Hitler must be loving the EU, its actually becoming close to what he envisioned.

i was thinking the exact same just trying to scare people int submission, the plan is ludicrus at the end of the it will probly come to nothing in the end

The sad part is every one just assumed this was true and didn't question it, we must just be used to being part of the European dictatorship.

Slightly off topic...but surely a stricter and better regulated MOT is a good thing? There's plenty of shit cars still on the road that should be crushed but get through every year 'cos a mate can sort something out' - it might all be digital and tracked these days but there's still a cnut at the testing station of a back street garage that'll take a bung.

Happy with the testing station I used in Portsmouth, Green Road Service Centre, failed on head light adjustment which the guy did for free and re-tested with a pass, a few advisories which have all been pretty much sorted now :)

Ah hope that dont happen i thought this was all bullshit, everyone should get together buy some land a smother it it the smoothest tarmac out there track days everyday i could live with that

They could easily make this all go away by upping the age limit from 20 years to something like 75 years.

An absolute nonsense of an idea.

How the hell have we got ourselves into the position that Euro politicians unelected by the British public, are allowed to make rules that we have to live by?

That had me going for a bit!

It was a good un. And IMO not beyond possibility. If it ever happens all i'd say is: Kiss my ass EU. :finger: And keep on drivin.
