I bought this car in Feb 2011 in a rather sorry state. she was built in the year 2000 for the Polo Challenege rally series and used as a hire car. so not much love. after her days a s a hire car she was used by a rally school so again zero maintanence and no love.

got her back to our workshop in west wales. gave her a clean and started rebuilding her (had two weeks till her 1st rally back as a rally car)



got her to the rally but to be fair the car had still alot of work to do to her to be a competetive rally car. but was going to use this event to tes the car and iron out any issues

the car needed alot of setting up suspension and brake wise but we got there by the end of the day. felt the car was very underpowerd

after abit more work on the car mainly tunning the engine and getting it to run on 13inch wheels to make the best acceleration we could. it was time to do another rally.





















this was a great rally only disapointment is that we pushed the standard engine to far to gt the best power we could and cracked a piston. but in good old vw fashion she kept on giving till the end of the rally.

so next was to build a new engine with more power.

Lightend and balanced bottom end
High compression pistons
4 branch manifold









next rally in 3 weeks.

future plans are to lighten the car with polycarb windows and fibreglass panels and then a respray in Volkswagen Rally yellow.

lol well the mk2's are both dead

the mk5 will be used to reshell this one into when she needs it

and the chevette is dads rally car i was just lucky enough to use it

The chevette is an animal and great fun to drive. But I wasn't competative in it. Spent to much time dicking about to be quick. So had to go back to front wheel drive and only a polo would do.

nice to see someone doing something different =D

get on with some more work on the car cause i love reading builds but mostly get out there rallying the fuck out of it cause those pics look awesome =D

back to an engine without the cams as I've blown 3 pistons with them in so back to standard with bike carbs for now.

how much hp is it pushing out and what mods have you done to the engine so far?

No idea. the engine in the vid is a standard engine on gsxr600 carbs so at a guess 125bhp?

well its finally all came together. 4 years and 5 months after my last award in rallying, the car didnt miss a beat and the crew were on top form and we managed to battle it out and take a 2nd in class. really happy with that. here are some pics from Pembrey

i was in pembray on sunday very nice car. and congrates on 2nd. it looks a very quike car. i had a quike look at it in the pits good luke hope to see more of it.

was going to say how do you run in your engines before the event to save borking them and then i read down and you've fubarred 3 pistons! in one fell sweep, or t hree sep occasions? were they your high comp ones? surely not forged as i wouldnt expect them to break easy!

Dude, looks like you were giving it everything! fair play. Well done on your position. I'm sure loads of people have tuned their polo more then yours but good drivng is undeniable!
