Yeah you're pretty limited really, I have some Piper regrinds, cant remember exact spec but they're around 250, but have lost a slight amount of lift I believe. Was just wondering as my engine

Those verniers look the mutts nuts!

I've got one of those s1600 manifolds, do you know anyone else who has or are we the lucky few?

What bodies are you thinking of running? Jenveys?

Right then the car is going through abit more development. i was having issues with the outer cv joints on a polo as they are so small. so looked into fitting bigger ones. Golf R32 :-)

so here is where we are so far. I couldnt get the R32 cv joint into the Polo hub so looked at golf VR6 hubs. now these worked but needed a moddified bottom arm to fit the VR6 ball joint.

So i made up a template out of an old bottom arm

D3749782-A86E-44F9-8E34-F0E38A642B02-615

this is the difference in CV joint size

C99469D4-6EE1-4CCE-9C84-5F63CDD2735C-615

so may aswel upgrade the brakes also. but going to have the hubs and disks re drilled to 4 stud.

50504742-AB27-40B1-B12A-FAB71B111379-615

then had to modify the inner wheel arch to fit in the 15 inch wheels with the cleareance i need for rallying.

last night my new adjustable bottom arms arrived with modification for the VR6 ball joint. and moved forward to get a better castor to make the polo handle abit better.

still left to do is have new driveshafts made up and fit everything. hopefully with althis done i can drive the car harder out of bends and improve my stage times.

love it....this is a true piece of art....I reckon cleaned up and put at any show this would attract massive attention.

congratulations on the win last year and hope this year is still going well =D

ITB  Looks awesome mate.

You need to buy 'that' gearbox 8-)

  • Author

I would love to butim guessing spares would be an issue. so its prob best bet to buy a new dog 6 speed 02A gear kit from drenth and build a lupo gti bottom end and go down the route. once I've saved up for the gearbox upgrade.

Badboy!!!!

Intreagued to know how the engine goes, have you had to run solid lifters with the 280 cams?

  • Author

right then boys and girls she is finally back alive but on a lesser spec engine whilst we iron out some issues with the other engine. been on the rolling road today to be mapped and here are the results.

engine spec:

1.6 avy/afh hybrid.

newman reground cams.

gsxr 1300 throttle bodies

MBE 9A4 management

172bhp at the flywheel

144lb/ft torque at the flywheel.

happy with that for now till the main engine is sorted :D

that's great mate shows what an improvement ITB's can be on these engines

any info on the better engine plans or is it staying a secret til its all go

  • Author

The next engine being built has lightend and balanced crank and flywheel. with steel rods and forged pistons, a head flowed and modded to the same spec as a s1600 and 280 degrees shrick camshafts. should be health gains to be made again I hope :-)

A few updated pics of the car almost ready to go. a few jobs left to do like have the corner weights and geometry finely dialled in, some new sign writing, paint the wheel sand fit some new tyres.
