Have done two rallies since the last post with the car having problems. 1st event blew an alternator and the fuel pipe started to perish and blocked carb number 4. 2nd event snapped a driveshaft on down change abit to vicious. oops.

now I have one of these.

so its time to build a 1.6 afh to gain abit of power. so a 1.6 afh running newman fast road cams and gsxr 600 bogg bross carbs.

well I spent yesterday building this.

Spec

AFH head

Newman Cams (fast road)

AVY 1.6 bottom end (lightened and balanced)

GSXR 600 carbs with Bogg Bross Manifold.

4-2-1 manifold.

id hazard a guess of around 160ish for all of that, i think you could be looking at around 170s with guestimations but i reckon 160 is a safe bet

What a busy weekend.

The car has had a new steering column as the old one had alot of play in all directions must be something to do with being rallied for 12 years.

Also new gear linkages, cables and b and m short shifter. as these had play and gone very stiff.

built a nice new afh 1.6 and put that in. rewired the engine bay to get rid of all the injection electrics and moved the battery to the rear of the car.

painted the rear arches as they had pic flakes of red paint missing.

oh ye and i did a mod to myself which should help the acceleration. I've lost 3st 8lbs.

I decided to tidy the car up abit before the rally. touching up aint and getthing her looking as good as i can without a full respray which is happening in may/june.

oh yes and i finally had my Proflex 3 way adjustable suspension back. what a set up transormes the car.

did a road rally in the 6n2 back in feb but its been built for my dad to use but he has been to busy to use it yet.

haha neither am I thats why she will be resprayed in rallye yello win may/june time. as i have 3 months without an event to rebuild the car.

have to have the white door squares for the car competition number. the event sposor stickers and also the championship sponsor stickers on the car. and when it has been painted I will be having my design consultancy business sign written on the car aswell fo some advertising.

I started stripping the car today for her bare shell rebuild and respray.

where the dog decided to be while this was going on.

so stripped the front end off and removed the engine and box so far. busy time ahead of me.

Another half day on this on saturday. see pics below for progress

Then spent Sunday on the spanners looking after this lovely little polo

Have done alot of work on the car cutting out the old mangled botched engine mounting points with striped threads and welded in nice straight ones with good threads. also done the same to the fronts of the chassis. new inner wings have been insttalled. car is now on the spit and its being cleaned to bare metal ready to repair the floors and then she will be ready for paint.

finished cleaning underneath there was aabout 5-10mm thick of underseal and mud on the car.

oh yes it has been batterd by the forestry stages from all over britain. she has had a hard life. and thats after we spend a few hours panel beating the floors lol. but its all back strong now and ready for paint.

Looks brilliant dude! I see you have welded lots of the holes up inside for the old seatbelt backets and the such. I did the same and managed to loose tonnes of weight :-)
