So I've managed to get everything fitting properly now. The next job is to fabricate the sill extensions to match the arches because the 6n sills don't match a 6n2. Done dummy ones out of cardboard to get a template to cut. Getting very excited now :-)

Time to lengthen the wheel base and track to the S1600 measurements. So I made a jig then a dummy bottom arm to see how the wheel will sit and steer. Now to finish off the design in CAD and then make the proper bottom arms.

So some major work going on. To get the car to the s1600 dimensions I have had to tub the front also and also make new gearbox mounts and engine mounts. Also the 6 speed box didn't fit between the chassis rails so had to cut it out and build my own back up. Also had to move the strut tops and make them adjustable. Also had a belhousing made to fit the 02j to the polo small block.

Finally the engine sits on it's own mounts and all the fabrication is finished. So today I painted under the bonnet.

Well it is almost finished. Was all back together but had complications with the engine so it had to come out again. The disappointment made me lock the car in the garage and not look at it for a month bust started back on it today

this thing looks so good!

any recommendations on cams for mine?

i also have an avy/afh hybrid, with cbr600 carbs (may upgrade to bigger) and going to be going on mappable ignition... full exhaust and all that, the usual. haha.

want some more oomph! like 160-170bhp if possible, may be stretching it on carbs

Mine on Newman reground cams and throttle bodies made 172bhp. The cams in the new engine are schrick 280 degree cams but yet to have it running correctly

ah thats a bummer, when you get it going right let me know how they compare! I'm not too convinced by regrinds at the mo. :)

Awesome stuff mate.

so I finally finished the car and got out on a rally it wasn't with the new engines as had more issues. We were running 2nd in class with 2 miles to go when the made belhousing cracked and shook the bottom end if the engine to bits till it blew :-(. But I had loads of fun getting used to the car and testing it. Feels awesome to drive now. So now I'm taking a while out whilst my partner has our 1st child due in 5 weeks and I decide wether to go 2.0 abf and move up to the next class as I've seen a nice 240bhp race engine ready to drop in and it will also eliminate the belhousing issue. Any way. Enjoy the pics
