I recently picked this Mk2 up but I've just found out my next job is a 100+ mile a day commute and I really don’t want to be putting those sort of miles on an old original car like this. I'm looking to sell but will consider PX or swap offers on something more modern with a small petrol or diesel engine.

This car is totally original, not modified in any way apart from a newer Panasonic tape player!

Engine & Gearbox

The engine runs very well, starts first turn of the key and pull's nicely through the rev range. Doesn’t use any oil and returns decent MPG.

I have just done a service, oil change, oil filter and air filter.

Has just had a new front silencer and all new exhaust clamps and rubbers.

It has also recently had a new fuel pump so no issues there.

The cambelt and tensioner pulley were changed at 129,963.

Bakes & Suspension

This car stop's very, has discs all round.

Recently had new rear discs, pads, hard lines, flexi hoses and dust covers on the back.

The suspension all seems fine apart from the top mounts do need replacing on the front shocks. Easy job as many of you know, £20 for the top mounts and if you plan on lowering it the two jobs can be done at once.

Paint & Bodywork

The car is nearly 23 years old with the original paint so it obviously isn’t perfect, however it does come up nicely with a polish.

All the panels are straight apart from the odd very small parking dent.

As with the majority of old golf's the rear arches and the front passenger side arches do have some rust on them underneath the plastic trim. Again common with old golf's there are little spots of rust here and there around window seals etc. With a bit of time spent these areas could be easily sorted out as the paint (L90e Alpine White) is a flat paint without the clear lacquer top coat and very easy to perform repairs on.

I've just put a new set of plates on the car.

Interior

The interior on this car is lovely, all original with the usual bolster wear on the driver’s seat but it has not worn a hole through. Everything interior wise works as is it should and it benefits from a sunroof.

All the exterior lights work as they should.

The car still has it original spare wheel, jack and wheel spanner.

I have the original handbook with the owner’s manual etc. Along with this I have a load of service history and receipts for work undertaken and every MOT from new for every year the car has been on the road. I have the V5 document.

Dont fancy a mk3 golf tdi? Ok condition, Tax and mot till September, Does between 50 and 54 mpg. Only issue with it is air getting in the fuel lines but should be an easy fix
