Mk2 handbrake cable adjustment

Featured Replies

I've had my rear drums off recently to fit camber shims (dint end up fitting them)

since then my handbrake seems really crap (i do not do handbrake turns  )

just wondering how and the best way to go abouts adjusting it to make it better as i dont fancy leaving my car on a hill and it rolling back into someone elses

thanks in advance

according to mr haynes.

the handbrake compensator is on the end of the cable and looks like this

chock the front wheels, put the back on axle stands

release the handbrake and firmly depress the footbrake pedal once

pull the handbrake up to the second notch. if you can turn the rear wheels by hand, tighten the nut on the compensator until it's right. Check the wheels spin freely with the handbrake off, and lower the car

job done
