Come on chaps..........

Aren't all the gear linkages the same? I think the arb on my mk3 is a five speed one but how can I tell for sure? I can't remember if I swapped it over from the five speed bread van when I swapped every thing else over

Unsure about the linkage as I've never had one to compare, just remember my gear change was a real biatch when I put a five speed on my old four speed coupe.

The ARB iirc has an extra kink in it to allow for the extra girth (Oo'er!) of the five speed.

Gear linkages are all the same, you just need to re-adjust the rod/clamp when going for a 5 speed. ARB are the same too unless yours is a really old mk2.

Cheers for the info.

Mines a really old MK2, 1984.

I've got an arb can get someone to take it to billing if thats any good??

Pretty sure this arb is the five speed one, I can get some pics for you tomorrow to double check if you like?

I'm going polo show so I can take it if its any for you

Cheers Guy, pics would be great.

'84 could be a 4-speed linkage. The early ones are definitely on the smaller side.

Is the linkage box with the gear sick in it that bolts under the car? If so I have one of those from my mk3 too
