Comments: Got the car as a replacement for my mk2 punto which finally died due to electrical problems after me replacing almost everything mechanical under the bonnet!! clutch and gearbox for one!! I picked up the polo from edinburgh, 30 miles down the road from my house, for 400 pound after the guy was askiing 550! the previous owner had made an attempt to sort the rusty paint work by simply spraying primer over it.... the car was covered in spots of primer all over it!! the bonnet was also primered. The first thing i done was properly prep the paint, then just rattle canned it satin silver, its not perfect but does the job while i wait for a full respray! I work in a second hand car dealership where the owner is VW mad so i found some sebring alloys from a corrado with no tyres and quickly goot them, then i decided i didnt like them so swapped them for some VW 15 inch beasts no idea what they're called or from what car!! after a while i decided i didnt actually like them either and wanted the sebrings back but he had already sold them... so the alloy hunt began again! eventually i found the scirocco alloys and decided they were keepers. in the meantime i paaainted my bonnet satin black because the primer wasnt a good look and i knew i wouldnt get a good finish spraying it silver so I'm on the lookout for a silver one in the scrapys! i fitted some hids i got for my birthday and jeez what a difference!

plans are:

tidy up the alloys properly as the satin black was just a quick fix

low!!!

bonnet bra

pressed plates

6n2 rear lights (already have one side)

clear side repeaters

window wind deflectors

sports exhaust

and some other stuff but I've forgotten

anyway....pics!!

Wee update, been having clutch issues lately and set about finding if it was release bearing or what etc... well the biting point of the clutch was below the floor.. my old puntos were both hydraulic clutches but the polo is obv a cable. Found the end of the cable and the nuts, tightened up the cable about 6 turns and hey presto!! boom it works!! not bad considering I've never dealt with cable clutches. also debadged my new bootlid, sorted the lock and washed it!! good day, although now its thundering away so just waiting on the rain....

have to admit, it was an enjoyable read

.. the wheels dont look to bad man but i think you should spend a lil' bit more time sanding them down tbh, thats what am always doin. Its a hard work but defo worth it in the end.

Thumbs up on the diy side of things! And on the lowerin obv! Cars looking a lot better now :)

Keep it up

Looking so much better without the ricer bonnet :) it's all coming together now!
