Thanks for the comments!! I shouldve taken a few more photos of when I first got it, the paint was terrible the old owner had covered it in primer! Also did the clutch when i lowered it as we had the garage, but for some reason i didnt say on this i did the clutch! Yeah i need to redo the wheels in a lighter colour, will probably redo them over winter as the steels will be better in the snow!

Cheers!

Having a problem with the locks this morning...which ended up with me smashing the bootlid window in to get to work :( Does anybody know what is wrong? The drivers door lock has never worked, the lock comes out of the handle but i just used to use the passenger door as the central locking locked the rest, but this morning the key was turning in the lock but the door wasnt unlocking, i thought i heard the pump pumping but not too sure. Is it the central locking pump? Or a problem with that door lock? I would have guessed that the passenger door lock should still have unlocked the passenger door? Also when i got in the car i pulled the door pin up manually but the central locking didnt work? any help will be appreciated!

Had a busy weekend!

First of all got a new bootlid to replace the one i had to smash in to get in the car :( Got it from the scrappys for 25 pound and got it fitted in 20 minutes!

Spent today debadging it and cleaning the car of all the glass that got in the car. Will need to de wiper it at some point! Also got at the scrappys a new door handle complete with key. What had broken in my lock wasnt the paddle it was the actual mechanism and when I took the handle off bits of lock fell into the door :( it had disintegrated! Also colour coded the door handles and they have turned out pretty well!

I'll let the photos do the talking!

The smashed window :(

Dont know if I said on here but I have been having an exhaust issue for over a month! first of all the downpipe broke off below the flexi but me and my dad welded them back together! which surprisingly held quite well considering it was a weld on the flexi but the pipe got welded a tiny fraction off centre so wasnt sitting straight so couldnt get it attached to the middle section adequately so there was a blow there and the downpipe was rattling badly off the sump! I drive like this for 3 weeks as buying a downpipe would be far too expensive because of the cat!! Then i went to the scrappys and got a downpipe from there but the scrappys i use always snips the cat off so we decided to weld a sleeve onto the new downpipe and sleeve the cat onto the new downpipe, so after a couple weeks I got it welded then the weekend after grinded the cat off and sleeved the cat! Then we ran into problems...where the sleeve was welded it was obviously a straight pipe but in the normal exhaust set up there is a bend..this meant when the exhaust was fitted after a struggle it was sitting literally about an inch off the ground....I drove about for a night like this and put some big dents in the cat from cats eyes! anyway the next day I grinded a slot on the top of the sleeve and bent the sleeve open so the cat lifted. A small test fit later it fitted! So slapped it up with exhaust clamps and gun gum and we're away! as good as new! Just took alot of time, thinking and effort haha. But now I've found one blow in the middle section pipe and one in the back box pipe... :( used a spare bit of pipe and exhasut clamps and gun gum to seal them! A bodge well hidden is a bodge well done!

Sorry for the essay! But thats the story of my past few weekends and exhaust issues..Just to save me some money!

Here are a couple of boring pics

Also now developed a small oil leak from the sump...will be attempting to fix this soon!

And last weekend I stripped the interior and gave it a proper hoover! Minty fresh now

Got an iPhone 3GS the other day and as my cd player was on the blink i decided to splash out in hellfrauds and got a new playaaah. It is iPhone and ipod compatible etc and was on a great deal!

Only thing is i cant seem to work out how to adjust the bass etc?? Anybody know how to use one of these??

IMGP1863.jpg

Do you know how to change the eq on the headunit?

I have a similar sony one to you, put the eq on to custom, then press the volume button in and it should take you though all the levels...high's mid's low's bass etc... :)

I have the exact same headunit mate, if you push the stick in once there's a setting called "SW LEVEL" that turns your sub up or down :)

I keep loosing all my setting the moment i turn my engine off though, really pissing me off lol

You may be loosing your settings if you havnt switched the red and yellow wires (I think) from power source to the headunit.

Common thing that needs doing on 6n's with aftermarket stereo's.

Still haven't worked out the headunit! too complicated haha. Its remebering the settings so not too bad and sound quality has improved :)

On another note, i now have another polo! Only for spares though, taking front wings, doors, exhasut some other things then scrapping it!

Also I'm having the thermostat issues. I think it is stuck in the open position as it is not getting up to temperature apart from when it is in traffic, idling etc. What are peoples suggestions to this? obviously a new thermostat but what about housing and any other things? or anything i should look out for?

Cheers!
