your going to scrap it? :(

Not much else i could do

Cus i need stuff off it that kinda makes it unusable

Unless someone wants it with half the engine and gearbox missing, no wheels, no interior, ARB and other suspension/steering bits missing....?

It will get broken and scrapped.

Well before you do i would be interested in bare panels so let me know when you start to break it without scene tax obv :)

haha, got minced for my springs. Love it!

threads on there spread fast, hey.. this pile of junk may become internet famous. for bad reasons.. but still. It will die known all over

Might even add some scene points when it comes to selling it.

You could put some Lamborghini brakes and wheels on there? I know that really grinded there gears :lol:

Having people like those dislike your car can only be a good thing

Tried catching up with that thread this morning but gave up after reading a post by one of them claiming he once owned a standard scirocco that was "fast as fuck"...

No mate you didn't

They remind me of the nob down the pub that has had everything better than you, knows everything and can't except anyone's opinion or point of view but their own. There's no reasoning with this type of muppet and you'll never win an argument because they can't see past their own self importance. When some one tries to claim a standard scirocco was "fast as fuck" its time to except you talking to a fucking idiot and walk away

Just a shame they can't see the other thread about them and see how much their being belittled in it.

They make out asif the cut springs are going to kill me/someone.

Fact is, any lowering kit with stiff suspension (before i cut the springs it already was rock solid, so its made it no difference, just lower) Will be the same upon hard breaking on an uneven surface.

And the Kit, and everything attached to it is all TUV/BSA (or whatever it is on automotive products) approved.

Yeah, some bits may be beyond tolerances to an extent. But how many other people run a fuck load lower than me and have no problems, and are still alive, and are not in prison?

Noticed none of them have acted upon me asking them to look at my other car. You would think that them being them, they would jump on the chance to slate me more.

They either actually didn't notice, or have and have realised theres nothing there to slate

Only thing that really pissed me off was them telling me i didn't know what i was doing. I'm not saying i know everything. But really, I've been fucking around with these sheds now for about 4? years.

I've not yet died, killed anyone. Infact, I've never even had a bump, get a speeding ticket, not once in my life have i been pulled over.

Wonder how many of those have smashed cars up? Drove like idiots and got points on there licence etc?

Atleast i read up on things too, and ask questions. Some people actually just do it and hope for the best. I know what I've done, i know what effects its having, i know its not ideal, i know I'm never not doing it properly.

Also, I'm no hard knock.. well you all know, I'm a fucking pussy. but id actually love to see these people come up to me and say this shit to my face. Without a bunch of their mates stood with um.

Fair enough, come tell me my cut springs are unsafe.. id take it all in and listen.

but i bet none of them would throw the abuse they were behind the keyboard, to my face.

Dont see me bounding around the internet throwing every offensive word i can find at people, just because i don't like their car or dont agree with how they have done things

Cut springs are so dangerous.

  • Author

Because they are just going to come out and kill passers by

because, as the weight of the car is sat on them, the top nut for the shock is going to undoo itself, and then the castle nut, the shocks going then fall out of the top of the strut, this allowing the spring to then get inbetween my zero arch gap, and kill many many people

Yeah its not ideal but it ain't dangerous.

One of the things i hear a lot though,

"What if the after going over a sharp bump, allowing the car (and suspension struts) to extend into the air, the shorter cut spring falls out of its cup?, then when the cars weight overcomes the force and sits back down, the dislodged spring doesn't allow its turret to settle back at the original height?"

What you think?

Lol did the BarryBoys thread get deleted?

My springs are welded in, to stop them from ever coming out in this situation.

My methods may be pikey, but atleast i think about what could happen and act upon it to stop it from happening.

Cut springs that are allowed to wobble around like that, yeah.. stupid.

The thread on here has been moved to members section.

There's a 'twang' as the spring reseats. Seriously that is all that happens

I'm not speaking from internet hype or exaggerated theory but from personal experience. The design of the suspension struts on a polo/golf/many other cars, makes it impossible for the spring to 'fall out' as so many people try and claim can happen, and the design of the cups means that as soon as weight is put back on the spring it falls back into place. I've challenged many people to explain how a spring can fall out of a coil over designed shock or even how the dislodged spring could do any thing but fall back into place contrary to what they were trying to claim, but alas all I get back is ignored as they carry on with their claims.

Obviously if you chop a spring too small on a set up which has a separate spring and shock could cause some very bad results but we are not talking about that sort of setup, we are talking about the polo setup.

Also a 1mm cutting disk goes through a spring like a hot knife through butter, it literally zaps straight through it so much so that afterwards you can pick the spring up with bare hands without burning your fingers. Yet this is apparently hot enough to change the molecular structure of the spring?

haha, its boring now anyway. I've stopped reading it.

Also love how because i cut my springs, all other people with lowered cars are twats  Not that this is new, we were all idiots with no knowledge before anyway
