Gold would look amazing, but its more money for paint n shit. and i hate doing multispoke wheels, takes a fucking age to prep them.

And i like the glitter, it looks awesome tbh, pictures make it look shit.

And no ben, I'm leaving it as it is and just painting onto gloss

Cans

I see the rims are staying Glitter. Good choice :-) , multispokes are pigs to clean, let alone spray.

Try painting BBS RA's.. Never ever again, powdercoating if i ever have to do them i think.

Might have the R8's powdercaoted if i do decide to go gold.

Will be next year if i do i reckon, Will run them black through winter for defo.

I know Ben, i hate cans. But its that or give it to a bodyshop and pay more to get the boot sprayed than i paid for the sodding car. So cans will do, i have good nozzles ;)

Try nitro-moors-ing alleycats!

I gave up after 10 mins.

Yeah, so did i. Thats why one was half done and left

Acid dip FTW!!!

Halfords are wank, i have ones that spray like a gun, a wide'ish fan kinda spray. Thats what you want rather than like a round kinda spray if that makes sense

I've handed them in for full shot blasting and powdercoating, cba with a polished dish.

  • Author

I'm disgusted max!

All it would have taken was an acid dip lol. Probably cheaper than shot blasting too.

Means ull never be able to have a polished dish without hours n hours of sanding :(

Its a long story mate

One of the wheels was left un-attended by robbo at his work,

Someones comes in at the weekend and totally shotblasted it, thinking he was doing him a favour

Well, thats what he's told me lol

I'd have gone fucking mad

Guess there wouldnt be a lot that could be done after that though haha. Bummer dude.

It is a bummer, but like you say, can't be mad because it's no ones fault. I'll just not give robbo a lift to action, its fine.

As for the wheels themselves, everyone polishes the dish, so this might be a good thing :-)

  • Author

Possibly, but they polish dish for good reason. Seperates the spokes and makes them stand out more, which is what you want with cats

All one solid colour and the spokes wont stand out as much.

Actually, you know what i saw that looked fucking sick! Which you may get away with doing with the correct equipment.

Some that were all black and just the face of the spokes polished. And as from a distance you couldnt tell where the wheel ended and the tyre started, so just looked like the spokes and tyre. looked fucking sick!

Edited by B-shaw

Yeah polished dish does look good, bit id rather go for summit abit different.

That idea sounds good, but I don't wanna have black wheels!

Painted!!!

Gave it all a blast with basecoat, was just gunna cover the patches of primer but got carried away.

Nossles that came with the cans of basecoat were a bit gay, so used the ones that came on the clearcoat. Caused it to come out a little thick and ended up dripping

DSC00913.jpg

But tbh, i couldnt give a fuck as it looks better than it did originally :)

DSC00914.jpg

I'm happy enough with it, considering its from cans.

Sat down after doing it and noticed a sligtly dull patch up the corner. Attacked it with clearcoat, and you know how it goes, it leaves it slightly dull around the area you painted if it wasnt all wet. Started chasing it to do the entire boot with another coat and ran out. Fail :( lol

Still, i can get some super fine sand paper on it and polish and it will all look sick. Just a shame id have been better off leaving it haha.

Put it back together tomorrow so i can nip to VW to collect bumpstops.

Fixed my bootlock also. Attacked it with thick gloves and molegrips. Was for some reason just stuck tight. Managed to twist it with molegrips with the key in and it eventually loosened after masses of WD40 and none stop twisting for about 30 mins haha. Although I'm pretty sure any sort of key/screwdriver could probably open it, its better than not being able to lock it at all :)

Couldnt be fucked to take a silly picture, if u wanna see that bad, be there on sunday

The bumpstops have raised it

Going to pick brett up from work in a bit as his gay v-tec is dead  Hopefully it will settle back down after a drive.

haha, I've been thinking raised turrets for days now...

Would have to lift the bonnet too though i think. As they sit high on a polo already compared to say a golf.

  • Author

But my engines not that close, so thats not a problem atm lol.

I do want fucking lows, I am gunna speak to Arun about raised turrets tbf i think. Need to have a closer look at it all.

Ride is soooo much better now with the bumpstops in, managed to sort the gay idle and constant stalling i think. Still a few things pissing me off

Picture updates to come of some stuff in a bit :unibrow:

dont rat it ... u already have one!

So Brett, the big fucking don sealed my window up for me. Couldnt have asked for a better job.

I'd have never got it this good... lol

Better than VW would have ever done, the rear windows in these were a design based fail anyway, well the seal was atleast. Water could sit in the groove, cant now so shouldn't rust through again hopefully.

Test fitted the wheels, my oh my am i happy with them, like they suit it far better than i ever expected in my opinion. I fucking love them

DSC00915.jpg

Looks so sick, imagine that all round with low pro tyres... Gunna be on the deck i reckon. Need to space the rears out though as the tyres will catch the springs bigtime, fronts good though. pure tuck!

Actually excited for tyres now and spacers so i can get them on. Bring on next payday.

Exhaust too next month :D

Thank god! PICTURES! I thought this was turning into one of those all talk threads haha

Looking good toby, looking very good. Still reckon Gold wheels though tbf

looking good broseph!

  • Author

haha cheers Bro.

All talk, like yours you mean? :ninja:

How come you no text back, faggot.. haha

They might go gold another time, loving the black glitter atm though. Saves money too not getting um done in gold. Just tyres and spacers to worry about.

Just not sure on tyre size, 195/45 I'm thinking but there a tad wide on 6's and could cause problems with the offsets being so high. Seen another possible size on Jons GT but there a bit 'gay stretch' kinda thing. Dunno though.

  • Author

Cheers Robbo

Said tyre size... Cant make my mind up on them. I hate stretch but it may be a case of 'need' rather than 'want'
