Good to see the wheels suit it. They just didnt go with the decor in my living room

Also that sealant round the rear window is quality.

Your so fucking ignorant on phones its unreal

2 missed calls from you, try ringing you back and texting you and i get nothing!

I want the box and driveshafts off the GT,

SPI i could do with the head, cam covers (inner and outer)

What actually came with the engine dude?

  • Author

i left my car in the phone bro, it was like 11 when i saw you are missed call.

I've just realised what I've said above, I'm going to leave it though

And pretty much everything i need. Although i forgot the loom and the ecu so gotta go back for it at some point, when i have the rest of the dollar.

Has an alloy MK2 cam cover on it too 8-)

And what do you want cam covers for Max, i swear u were selling two like the other day?

Not sure what I'm doing with the heads yet, ull be able to have 1 but not sure which (there both the same either way)

The one with the GT has leaky valve seals. So I'll either change them when i do the headgasket OR swap the cam over to the spi head as i know thats sound. Will see what i think is easiest when it comes to it.

Oh yeah, get an engine for 50 notes because I payed 50 for the box , then take all the best bits!

I mean the plastic cambelt covers!

Fuckinhell, ill even it out a bit more when i get paid lol.

Not ideal for me, I've gotta find a GT box for it now as I'm not making the same mistake as before. And you know how hard they are to find for decent money. I'll end up paying more than £50 for one i bet.

OOOhhh the cambelt covers... none came with the GT engine i dont think. Unless Rich still has them when i go to get the loom etc.

It has the inner ones i think though.

If it means that much to you though, you can have the spi ones and ill get some fresh ones from VW, there not that expensive. Etka says under £20

Thought you said you had two knackered ones lined up dude?

Possibly, but ill need to get the 5th's swapped. I dont wanna do it just encase it break something with a naff puller. So ideally itd need to go to a box specialist. Will cost more than 50 to do it i reckon so gunna try and find one that just works lol

But i know salty did it on his, so ill speak to him and see what he thinks. Its the puller thats the problem, a decent one costs more than a box

ill have a look i should have one somewhere

Looking good mate, also liking the wheels your rocking! them p slots look rude I've never been a fan on mk3's until that pic!

I'm obsessed with that pic lol

What, Jons?

Fucking alternator pulley bolts. Why the fuck did they use hex heads. VW are pricks at times.

Every single one I've had to un-doo, 3 come out fine and one always rounds off and becomes near impossible to get off.

Done all the usual things, nothing has helped. Only thing i can do now is grind it off and hope that i can get the rest out of the thread afterwards. If not, i guess ill be rocking with just 3 holding it on

Grind them off if you can get a mole grip on them after the pulley is off. If not then you need to weld a hex bit on the bolt and then you can grip it. See my build thread when I first dropped the engine in.

Grind a notch into the hex and use a large screw driver or drill bit?

  • Author

Already tried with the screwdriver bit. didnt work lol.

I'll drill/grind it tomorrow when i finish work.

If you get the bolt head off then it -should- releive its tension.

If its rusted in there then this is of no help

  • Author

Not ideal but ill run with 3 if needs be lol.

I wouldn't be the only person to do this. I'll locktite them in to make sure they aint going anywhere.

Only the alternator pulley after-all.

Just having a cuppa then ill be on it.

Cba to even paint this engine you know. I was gunna make the bay look fresh but now i cant be fucked. But i feel it will let it down.

Its so covered in oil though its effort. eurgh, will see what happens.

Just save the effort/time and put it into the coupe. As long as this is fully functional, thats all that matters. What kind of condition is this head in then dude?

  • Author

Seems ok, dont really know what id be looking for lol.

Cleaner than the GT head i had in the coupe.
