Passport worries

Featured Replies

Basically I go to Napa on the 24th (1 week) and I checked my passport today expecting another ten years until expiry

this was not the case, it was a child passport issued 05 when I was 15 and it ran out last year.

I have read all I can on this and there is no fast track option for first adult passports (they scrapped it!) So I was wondering if anyone else had been in my situation before and how you dealt with it? How it turned out etc etc.

I am ringing them first thing tomorrow morning and am planning to pretty much beg them.

I know I'm a tard for not checking it sooner but that's not the point, go against your strong urge to rub it in, please.

The website is a little misleading but it turns out that you need to renew your Child Passport which is eligible for the fast track system as long as you still have it. "First Adult Passport" refers to an Adult needing their first ever passport, not a person needing their first passport as an adult.

Info here: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTrans...sport/DG_174096 I'd call them to check but it should be fine. Looks like you'd need the 1 day service which probably costs a bomb though.

Yeah thanks a lot man, I can't stand the direct.gov sites after using the Jobcentreplus one for a year.

It appears I can fast track it I just need to trek to Peterborough on Friday morning, pay £130 and wait for 2-3 hours, two days before I'm meant to go.

I know it's my fault for not checking it but shit they are robbing nice people, the government.

Hope it all goes well and you have an awesome time in Napa

i had to go to liverpool to get mine went the day before i was going lol

I had to drive my mate to Peterborough the day before we set off on a few thousand mile round trip of Europe... that was fun :p

The while you wait service is pretty good though and you leave with it in your hand, rather than worrying if it got lost in the post and the like

When i got mine i didn't realise i still had to wait 4hrs. I thought paying £100 (This was 4yrs ago) meant it was instantly done in front of you

And i had to waste 4hrs in Newport S.Wales!

When we did my mate's a day before we had to fly, we had the same problem, only it was Liverpool. We took the opportunity to have a few (too many) beers. When he returned later there were a few questions he'd missed and so was heavily interviewed by the issuing officer... but a few slurred sentences later and he had a passport!
