sweet as fook mate as usual

V.nice in the 12's..

easy mate... love them front wheels you got, what are they? and the jack up at the back, does than not induce anti-squat and shift the weight to the rears? sorry i don't know much a bout making fraction from the front! fair play on the 1/4 miles too!

If you induced 'anti-squat' as you put it, you'd retain the weight over the front (where you want it), hence the high rear height and spring lb choice.

Front wheels (with drag slicks) are Mattigs, my everyday rollers are Compomotive MOs

i meant 'squat' as in the back to sink down, or do you have really hard suspension to keep it over the front? 'anti-squat' as i know it is what causes RWD dragsters the wheelie... in a normal RWD launch, you get like 60-70% weight transfer over the rears, but by the adition of something like ladder bars or 4 linking, you can send 100% of the weight back aiding traction.

How stiff are 250lbs springs?

How stiff are 250lbs springs?

Erm, your answer is in the question!? At the stiff end for road use...

richie_six- Not sure what you're getting at, you can't send 100% of the weight to the rear unless you lift the fronts clean off the ground, which isn't always the quickest launch for RWD anyway.

The basics for FWD consists of hard rear, weight on the front.

Hope this clears it up for you

Cheers

8-)

I would say those rear springs are too stiff for daily road use, ride down and back on even a smooth motorway wasn't exactly comfy!

I've got 275lbs springs up front on my new coilovers, I'm a bit worried about them being ridiculously stiff for road use.

  • Author

They will be. Who specified them for you?

Presume you've got Gaz ones...

Yep, they're Gaz coilovers.

I'll give them a call next week and say they'll be too hard. I need something stiff enough for enthusiastic driving but I don't want my car to rattle my fillings out.

What's best for hard road use and a bit of track time?

Spec is BV head, turbo cam, 1341cc pistons, stock rods and crank. Was running a K03 at 22psi, now a Garrett unit instead.
