Won't be at the rr day I'm afraid- most of the chassis is done now, just the engine to refresh and update.

The manifold is an emtec one- but it fouls the block and alternator (and oil filter)- once I've worked out what it needs Polo-PP will get some made and I'll have a better fitting one :-)

thats kool, pricey at €400 if it needs work, I've been looking at the cheap 1.8t ones on the bay- thinking about getting one of them and cutting it up and welding it to a polo flange.

Ours won't be much cheaper, but they'll fit - and be available with K03/4 flange or T25.

Painted the engine bay and interior now :)

Used some rattle cans I had mixed up- 2pac stuff, was about £9 a can and I used 6 cans on the cage and engine bay.

Still needs buffing, but it's nice for everything to be red now instead of primer.

Headlining in- this was an utter pain in the arse with a cage in the way, the headlining took me a full day (6/7hrs or so) to do, the cage is so tight I can't physically get it past in one area!

It's a little creased from storage, but hoping that will go once the windows are in.

Cheers Kam- It will be road legal and have MOT later this year, I'll try driving it on the road, but with the solid suspension and cup car kit, it's going to be a handfull!

I started out wanting a cage as I thought the car was fast enough to get me into some situations I wouldn't otherwise encounter, hence the cage & seats. But whilst at it I thought why not refurbish everything, only going to take a few weeks.... Will mostly be track based, the Mk1 is going to be a step further again than this, I just don't have the heart to chop the front off my first car

Do you get the cages in as a build it your self kind of kit. As in all the pipes are pre-cut and pre-bent and you weld them up? I bought a cage cause it was cheap but it is quite heavy, thats the only thing that puts me off putting it in.

Can't wait to see the car out and about again. Last time I saw it was at Polo Show when you had the ITB on it and it refused to go home under its own steam!

The cages are all handbuilt by the chap who does our subframes, he's been building cages for years and it shows, we now offer them as a fully fitted service (Also did Alex Juggins' G40) which is far better for us as we can control the final fitment etc.

With the Mk1 I got tube cut to length & bent, but the whole process took so long, and my welding isn't anyway near the standard of our bloke, so I thought why not just pay him :-) In my experience even the 'pre-cut' ones are a pain to work with as they don't take into account different seats, seating positions etc etc

Its not something I'll be looking into doing in the near future. Just a flat with the wife so gotta gut that. In reality I shouldn't even be touching the Polo when we have a flat to gut next month. But gotta do something to keep yourself occupied. I've had the Lupo, Volvo and then Vento and all have been comfortable cars but there is only so much of that you can take. I fancy getting back into a scary little tin can of a car.

I remember the first year I saw your car when it was a almost standard GT with the 'uber bling' engine bay! Thats going back quite a while now

Took all day but the dash is finally in now, had to chop both ends off it, and rebuild it around the cage, quite happy with it though.

Dorrcards are fitted with some new doorcovers too.
