Yer but the thing is like most people I've got I've got downloaded music and i dont want itunes deleting it. Would like a new zen but there now touch screen and slow plus no real buttons so useless in your pocket.

All my music is downloaded - itunes doesnt delete anything its just a music player/organiser. iPod is the way forward imo

Sorry - moved it to the ICE section by mistake! Thought it was car related! moved back now...

you don't have to use iTunes with an iPod. I use a program called Rhythmbox, not sure if there's a windows version though.

iPod > All

iTunes > All

I left my nano on the dashboard of my 6n, forgot about it, got to the end of my street and as I broke I watched it slide and disappear down the gap between the dash board and the windscreen.. Bad times

iPod - definitely

iTunes - horrible piece of bloated crap

I use MediaMonkey as my media player and it also supports iPods

This 100%. Avoid iPods if you can, iTunes is horrendous (coming from an iPhone owner). Drag and drop music player FTW.

Just having a look online now and I'm mortified that 99% of the MP3 players out there look like iPods.

Edit: I would suggest a Sony Walkman of some sort.

That's one thing I don't miss since ditching my iPhone, whilst many other programs can happily sync to iPods they didn't support apps and the like so I still found myself having to resort to iTunes occasionally.

Sony Walkmans use to be good, I had their first HD (NW-HD1?) which was 20gb and it was a lovely bit of kit compared to the iPods of the time, sound was much better, it went a lot louder, looked rather slick, haven't used one since however so can't really compare!

Buy a cheap 2nd gen ipod and download CopyTrans Manager (free). http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php

This is the combination I have used for past 2 years now and it is soooo much better then iTunes

I use me BlackBerry Torch.

Drag and Drop FTW!

although i'm sure you can sync it with pretty much anything maybe even itunes

on my itunes i just have a folder with all my music in and click import folder and it's done drag and drops gay :p

Good advice guys! I've been looking at ipods i think an ipod classics to big for an allrounder but saw you can get ipod nanos in 16gb.

Can you use software other than itunes on a 5th generation nano or does it matter? with the other software is that drag and drop?
