Hello... couldn't find an OffTopic Thread in that whole Forum....

Question....... when i'm coming over next week for 4 days i would like to check my emails with my notebook.... Billing's WiFi is shítty and expensive....

Here in Germany i've got my USB-Surf-Stick für UMTS/HSDPA High Speed Internet via Vodafone.

What do you have in the uk?

Also UMTS Broadcastnetworks?

Can i buy vouchers for internet (for example) 30mins in the Vodafone UMTS network or similar?

Here we have hours/days/weeks/months vouchers.... is that also available in the uk's vodafoneshops?

Would like to read someone experiences plz....

cheers

Christian

Hallo!

the 4 networks are

Vodafone,

Orange,

Tmobile,

O2,

3 (Uses the O2 Network)

There are others but they all use other peoples networks.

After a quick look you can get a Pay As You Go (PAYG) Sim card from three (3) for £10.49 and that will give you 1 GB of data.

http://threestore.three.co.uk/broadband/?ID=1184

Just put this Sim in your USB-Surf-Stick as long as its unlocked and you will get a UK number and use the UK 3G network.

Alternatively the Billing Millstone Pub has free Wi-Fi so you can always head over there and have a drink and check your emails.

3 (Uses the O2 Network)

not quite true. 3 have their own 3G network. They have an agreement with O2 that their sims can fail over to O2 2G if there is no network coverage from 3's own network.

Not sure what 3G coverage at Billing is going to be like though as it's in the middle of no where.

its not actualy too bad, its near northampton and riverside and all the retail parks so it should have reasonable signal. if i go to northampton at some point ill pull in and see wjhat my signals like on my iphone at the pub by the show ground :)

I bought a mobile boradband thing with me in 09 (Three), worked ok, we were watching topgear on the laptop. You might remember Christian?
