Featured Replies

I dont think id want to work in a dealership or a repair type garage IMO

good calll.

And as others have said, dont expect to learn anything apart from what a mokey could do, apprentice basically means cheap labour.

And i disagree with the polictical shit being out the window, i got jet washed and a bucket with fucking god knows what threw over me on my birthday

I'm still really happy that I got the apprenticeship, and will see the truth if few weeks. Hopefully the manager was saying the right thing, haha.

Well done on getting the apprenticeship mate what type of thing were you saying in the interview because i need some tips mate ;) and i hope i get the same news soon because last time i phoned the recruitment team about a week ago i was the only candidate lol

I did my work experience from school at Chandlers BMW in brighton and it was very fun and there was engine rebuilds etc going on, but apprentices would be the ones to pop over the shop, but everyone was sound.

It's hard to tell as the interview was almost an hour long! We had a proper chat about VW, and all sort of stuff. First thing they've asked me was, what do I know about this specific company (Cooks of VW) so I've told them what I managed to research online and they were pleased. Another question - what do you do if you're stuck? Obviously don't give up but try to find some sort of help. They also told me to name the model range of VW so I've named them all. Showed off with model codes too (not all though), which they were suprised with. Well, I wish you good luck mate :)

I just ticked a box that said motor industry work experience, then the school did the work for me.

at the end of the day, your getting qualifications paid for and a job earning money too, when your out your time you can fuck off to wherever with your prepaid quaifications haha...I'm at jaguar landrover in prototype development, tis good stuff as its not just fixing things like in dealers :)

Good luck mate. you've done a great job getting onto the apprenticeship, if you approach it in a positive way you will love it. Some people take to college and some people prefer an apprenticeship. you get out what you put in!

I've just finished an apprenticeship with Royal Mail fixing all their vans. If they decide tyo advertise for it again in the future I recommend it very highly.

Should be within the next 2 weeks the woman has told me mate

I just got mine! For your interview id advise revising what models youll be working on and basic mechanical stuff ( how discs work, the ignition cycle etc). Bit of research about the company does wonders as well!

Fair enough mate i want mine so badly

I'm proper ecstatic tbh. Passed my bike theory then my dad rang telling me theyd contacted me, fucking good day for me! Another tip for the interview, ask about promotion possibilities. A lot of places are apparently now looking to promote exsisting staff to management instead of hiring clueless graduates.

Seems like they're leaving it a bit late, but advice i would give is to try and be prepared for any question. A recent interview i had, the first question was 'tell me about yourself' and i did not know what to say haha
