Hi

Basically, as it says in the title. I've got a really bad smell of fuel in the cabin, but only if its filled over half. The sill on the filler cap is fine and the tank isn't leaking, aswell as the cap for the lifter pump being ok and sealed. Even at speed and the window is open its still real bad!

If anyone has any ideas as to what may be causing it, I'm all ears :)

I have the same level of smell in mine (just posted a virtually identical topic ha)

Like urs mines not the lift pump cap thing, thats the first place I smelt. Seems weird then its so strong..

I've had the thought that mayb mine is also only when over half full..

This difference between full and empty probably suggests its not something to do with fuel lines (as they are under a constant regulated pressure) rather something about the pipe that goes from the filler cap to the tank perhaps.

Well thats it, i thought i'd left it undone or something but everything is tight as a whistle and i can't see any leaks or signs of weeking from below :/ Just replaced the fuel filter also! And no difference made.

I done a 90Mile journey yesterday and had to keep the window open, and still had one big headache. Its so bad!

best find it before it catches fire ..I've had a car catch light and its not fun

Just confirmed my problem to be the pipe that goes to the tank. neat fuel hanging around on the sills hahaha.

tbh it makes sense as the bottom of the pipe is level with the tank so will contain fuel when over half full..

Like urs mine is petrol-tight otherwise. I've always kept a keen eye out for fuel leaks and like urself just recently did filter and both pumps.

Pretty sure we have the same prob mate. Not sure how to rectify it yet. I will probly do it the thorough way, drain the tank and get the oxy-acetaline out.. or buy a new tank/ pipe.

best for now to run with a 2 gallon tank I guess hehe.

ah right ok. ill have a look for that the, when you say the bottom pipe I guess you done mean 1 of the 3 which enter under the lift pump? Could you give me an idea as to where abouts? :(

Haha, I'm with you on that, but I've got a 600mile round trip end of the week!

oh.. I think its nothing to do with the lift pump in my case.. I just mean the big pipe that takes fuel from the filler cap to the tank. sure thats the prob with mine.
