I've read a lot of the guides on here as to ARB's and stiffer rear beams and uprating the brakes ect ect, and I know a bit about ARB's and the likes (I'm about to do a 4 year Motorsport degree, I hope I know a bit!!) but most of what I can find is about the mark 1-3 Polo's and as LOVELY as they are, i would like to know a bit more about the 6n's handling improvements,

I can probably fit most things suggested given time, budget is my restricting factor, being 17 and all :(

so I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice or share some wisdom to shine a light on a seemingly uncovered topic :(

and I've done my best of reading through copious amounts of the search feature, finally given up!

Lowering it a sensible amount will also lower your CofG and reduce body roll

Poly bushes are a bit stiffer than the standard rubber bushings, should stiffen it up.

Reduce your unsprung weight, will make a huge differnece( any weight for that matter)

hello there chap I've just finished the first year of my motorsport degree! I can't say I've got any experience with ideas i'm about to suggest however if I had money, time and got over my serious case of CBA syndrome I would try.

these may or may not work.

GTI Anti roll bar (on a 6n2 requires changing bushes) on the front along with lightweight wheels to reduce unsprung weight. high quality coilovers such as KW, bilstein etc, or for a less adjustable setup maybe eibach pro dampers and new standard springs (plenty of height to avoid hitting shit)

for the rear on a 6n2 it would be a GTI rear axle swap (as it has a welded in ARB) but they dont fit 6n's however i did see earlier today someone fitted a 28mm neuspeed arb from a mk2 golf onto a 6n. again coilovers or a new sport damper set up.

and don't forget tyres, whilst it may be tempting to go for trackday spec tyres due to dry grip you will find them lacking grip in the wet and dependant on how you drive they can wear quickly, if you bought some premium sport tyres they offer good grip in all situations, I have continental sportcontact2's (GTI original fitment) and I can't fault them and the only time i lose grip is when I coax it into lift off oversteer.

6n2 anti roll bars -> suggestions

 

1) Will it 6n2 GTI rear axle with built in ARB improve handling on regular 6n2 without rear ARB ? (already have sport suspension -30/30, and OEM 18mm front anti roll). Can I expect less understeer with GTI axle?

 

2) Upgrading front anti roll from 18mm to 22mm, in conjuction with rear GTI axle. Would that combination too stiff on 1.4 non gti Polo ? Or leave it front 18mm?
