Matt6n's Fjord Blue 6n!

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I've been around on here for a fair bit now but have never really bothered with a build thread as i hadn't thought it was necessary. But an I'm hopefully going to Polo Show 2011, I thought I'd whack up a few pictures and details about my car!

The specs:

1998 1.4 CL with 50K milage when I picked her up

Fjord Blue

16v spec rear lights and clear front indicators

15x6 G60 steels with 165/50/15 Bridgestone Potenzas

Personalised Reg

De-wipered, de-badged and de-bumpstripped

Front and Rear VW badges sprayed Satin Black

FK AK Street Coilovers

Sorry for the poor quality on the pictures, the early ones are from a HTC Desire and the newer ones from an iPhone 4.

This is how she started:

A short time after the pictures she was then debadged

Then 2 days after these pictures were taken, a so-called 'friend' reversed into me, leaving the rear quarter on the drivers side caved in. I eventually won the insurance battle 3 months later and she was good as new, with the rusty sill being replaced as a bonus! Unfortunately, I don't have the pictures of the car in this state on this computer.

I then later bought some coilovers, as well as G60 steels. I was running 195/50/15s on there, which was causing some serious rubbing issues, but I did not have the money to replace the tyres at the time. I then finally got my personalised plates that I received for my 18th birthday on the car a year down the road! Meaning the plates went from looking like this:

And a comparison of the rear plates:

Then I finally got paid yesterday, meaning that I could get rid of the balloon tyres and fit some 165/50/15s, which left the car looking like this today:

And a cheeky one of the stretch:

And that is basically where she has been left for now. My next plans for her are to get some 5mm spacers for the front and rear, as the G60s are looking a little bit lost in the arch, as well as tarting up the interior a bit with some Mk3 Golf leathers or Cupra seats and a 16v rear bumper. Then I'll try and sort out the lack of horses under the bonnet!

Hope you enjoyed the read as much as I enjoy driving her :-D I'm gonna try and keep this regularly updated as well so keep checking back!

Went to Polo Show today, could only go the Sunday because of work :-(

Was a nice day and I'm pretty happy with how the Polo was looking! Took this photo myself:

Cheers man! See yours up there quite a bit too looking just as nice! You work there?

I realise I haven't updated this in a while but I haven't really had the time unfortunately. I lowered the front another 10mm after Polo Show, just to make it stand a bit better. Now the temptation of knocking the final 20mm off of the front is taking over so that will be happening before Ed38, as well as the back going down 10-15mm :)

That's really it now before winter mode :) Still trying to source a Fjord Blue 16v rear bumper! If anyone has one please hit me up!

Hit up Edition today, didn't get any photos cause she was filthy! Did pick up a Mk2 gear gaitor (I think) cause mine was buggered, semi-smoked side repeaters, a haynes manual for £4! and a central locking pump for £30! Well pleased with my purchases and the day :)

Anyone else hit Edition up too?

Car looks sweeeeeet man!
