can the bonnnet on the mk2f be raised at the back and if soo how ?? I've seen a 6n with spacers but is there something similar for the mk2f ? if its ever been done is there any pictures too please

I think alot of people use boot lifters, I'm pretty sure theres kits you canbuy though

If it is anything like the mk2 you will need to use some metal plate with 4 holes in it to raise it up as it is verticaly mounted

go to screw fix get 100 8mm washers and apack of bolt they only do 50 packs but cost like 6 quid for the lot :)

then just pack up the washers :) i done it to my mates nove but used like 300 washers cos the redtop was hitting lol looks sick when you see a cheaky little enine through the gap

I have a slightly raised bonnet on mine i just took the grinder to the hinge where the back bolt sits so i could pull it up, the way the hinges sit plates an washers won't work, if you want it very raised you would ideally need to make a bracket. can't put any pics on cause I'm using my phone but if you search lupoluke on facebook there's some on there.

Remove the rear most of the two bolts on either side of the bonnet, means that you can pivot it, then re-tighten the front to lock in place. Job done.

Means its adjustable too

yea i wanted to keep the back bolts, which is why i took the grinday to the hinge.

On the right car it can work.. I tried to google to find a nice picture but all I kept getting was Escorts, Saxo's and 106's.. Which says it all really.

I've made mine adjustable because the weber sits pretty high and catches on the underside of the bonnet, which means when tonking it, the whole car vibrates a hell of a lot.

and its also fitted for reasong of engine fitment but i look alright on the mk2f like the above one i want it for engine wise anyways

Before anyone gets the angle grinders or washers out, a lad was killed in the '90s when he was half decapitated in a minor shunt with a high tail Royal Mail Sherpa panel van. Having raised the back of the Escort bonnet, he'd weakened the hinge,he then shunted the back of said vehicle and the hinge let go,the bonnet didn't fold and instead the corner of the bonnet pierced the windscreen and he suffered a horrendous injury as a result. The bonnet acted as a guillotine blade.

I myself raised the back of my bonnet when running bike carbs on the tall AEE engine for clearance. But i did it properly using 4mm thick ally plates,an inch wide between upper and lower bolts,to raise the bonnet an inch.

Still this isn't ideal,for two reasons:

1 - the hinge can still fail in a shunt,due to the different line of leverage against it.

2 - carbon monoxide poisoning from any exhaust manifold/downpipe leak is inevitable unless you also raise the seal between the engine compartment and interior fan intake/compartment.

Can you imagine it though? Must've been well messy.

Remember the area in front of the bottom of the windscreen is a high pressure area relative to the airflow through the engine bay - i.e it wont give you better airflow through the engine bay in fact it will give the opposite.

I've had a lot of friends over the years wondering why their FI engine had bad heat soak or intake temperatures 10-15deg over what they had before, until they reversed this modification.

Obviously in traffic it has the opposite effect to when moving at a reasonable speed.
