Evening all, hope you've all had a good weekend.

I'm trying to plan a weekend away with some friends before they all piss of to uni and what not and I could do with some ideas for locations.

We don't want to travel too far but we want a nice destination just to chill out, go to the pub, play french cricket and all that. A beach would be nice of course but the only decent big one I know of that's not 'too far' is Wells in Norfolk and that's all booked up.

Of course there doesn't have to be a beach. Basically as long as its a nice place and covers all the basics then it'll do.

So does anyone know of anywhere within sort of an hour/hour and a half's drive from Bedford that'd be good for a group of 17-19yr olds (male and female)? Anywhere midland/norfolk/suffolk areas really (Could push it if it's particularly nice!).

Any ideas appreciated

if your not, laterooms.com (or co.uk) is good for cheap hotels and reviews.

failing that just pick a place and look for a campsite! - you'll have fun at any campsite mind as long as your prepaired.

Shell island, Google it, its in wales so possibly abit far but a awesome place for weekend camping get aways!

As is Shell Island unfortunately although it does look damn nice... I think we'll end up being impulsive and pick somewhere at random at the rate we're going! But thanks for all the ideas guys.

Its about 5 min drive from a lovely sandy beach 10 mins from Sheringham and Cromer.

The campsite itself is surrounded by woodland and a few hills. It really is a lovely place! (Some great pubs too lol)

Yeah I found that, apparently one of my friends has found a different campsite which accepts younger groups and aparently its basic and not amazingly popular which sounds perfect! But apparently its right near a cliff which sounds cool too

One of my old school chums family own a campsite at East Runton and they lost a load of caravans back in the nineties when the cliffs gave way.

Drive up here, get the ferry to Amsterdam on one of the DFDS mini cruise things... it's sweet and only £55pp

Go and climb Snowdon in North Wales. There are absolutely hundreds of places to camp around the surrounding roads. For next to nothing. They are basically farmers fields!!

I went a few years ago with about 10 other guys. Camped right beside a pub and a bus stop. Pub did good food and cheap drinks and the bus stop was a 5min journey from the base of snowdon.

The camp site didn't mind fires, drinking, loudness anything....

Shop about 2 mins drive away.

Its amazing climbing it and it's not that much hard work. We did it up and down in 4 hours but you could spend all day going at your own pace!

Another amazing advantage are the roads around snowdonia. They are amazing tight, twisty, fast, flowing and best of all smooth as a really really smooth thing!!!

My mate spent last summer in cornwall working in some kitchen on a camp site, got his caravan, most meals and drink for free and worked a few hours each day. Went surfing everyday.

That was an amazing set up!

well think were going newquey for couple dayts atm man soon stressful trying to find somewhere chaep but nice and within reasonable distance for things to do
